345 gram mtb tyres are in. Too lazy to mount right now. Knobby edges are kinda rounded off. I'm guessing very little bite but the look fast as hell. Probably be rear only use.
Also the cute Clean Bottle mascot bounding along some road in France finally got to me the other day. I wasn't too lazy to rinse well and let some water sit in there for an hour so will be trying that out toot suite.

Anyway, support small business. Like me.
We learned little to nothing about wheelselling, other than Addiction was split on responses. I will continue to endorse the product of the Purdue grad, although the quiver is currently full.

Yup. Especially for lightweights like me. I am quite pleased with my Williams 38s. Light, aero, and ok in crosswinds.

Earlier we were talking about getting yelled at. Usually I don't understand (or care) what the motorists are saying, but not yesterday evening.
I was hammering up this hill and I hear a vehicle coming up behind me. I expected it to pass me, but it did the annoying thing of trailing behind me.
After about 20 seconds I hear this female voice shout out: "Dude, you're awesome!"
[There might have been a hint of sarcasm to this remark, it was a bit nebulous.]
I was in the midst of a serious cycling climb and could not be bothered with such t*****s, and I hammered on without looking back. When I got to the end, the vehicle had turned off the road. I did not get to see my admirer.
THE END

I firmly believe in supporting the small business. I believe in doing all I can to make it to Ace or Tennyson Hardware, before hitting the Borg. Same with restaurants, bakeries, and coffee. Everything, as much as I can. But, when one gets attitude, ineptitude, and it starts costing silly, one walks away and goes back to a known quantity.

So anyway, that was fun. I left to meet up with some friends for a ride this evening. About two miles from home, I stand up to power through the roundabout and I hear a bang and the bike doesn't go forward. I get a foot down and look back. The chain doesn't look right and there are shiny pieces of metal on the ground. When I pick them up, they are fragments of the middle cog of my cassette. I replaced the chain on a different cog, rode home, and got the backup bike and rode by myself. So, for those following at home, the halfspeed spontaneous asplosion scorecard looks like this:
Aluminum: Two front derailleur clamp bands, one FD cage, one front hub
Steel: One cassette cog, one chain quick link, four spokes, one steel tire bead
Carbon fiber: nada

I find paying my LBS cheapens the relationship. It makes it feel too "commercial".
