They still have Woolworths down under? Must've been 35 years since I've been in one.

I also have some near death hiking stories, mostly based on knowing and ignoring basic safety practices. I have submitted a compilation to be in an "I Love NY" leaflet designed for emergency rooms and doctor's offices.

I forgot to mention after my test ride: the rack was almost a no-go. It attaches to the seat post via a quick release clamp, the handle of the rachet (that is spelled wrong? @LesterOfPuppets, come help me out here, I'm ok otherwise though, don't need a blanket) is on the left. My leg would lightly brush the clamp when pedaling, totally annoyed. The problem was largely solved by moving the rack down a little. I say "largely," because when I'm coasting with my left leg extended, I can feel the metal of the clamp handle. After consulting with my bike valet, he determined that the thing to do was to run out to LBS and buy the other rack they had, the kind that clamps on to that post and the clamp is held together by screws. It was what he wanted to buy but LBS salesperson talked him into the quick release clamp as easier to adjust on the road. Alas LBS was closed by the time Mr H got there.
I did a 10 mile ride with the rack in the lower position and it was fine while pedaling. I just touch the clamp while coasting which did not annoy me for 10 miles, we'll see how it is over the longer distance.
PS when I say "coasting" above, I mean coasting the verb, not @coasting the legendary MUP cyclist of Taiwan.

Yeah, my consumption of fig newtons went down pretty drastically when I learned about the, uh, higher allowable/expected bugginess. I think that I went over to raspberry newtons for a time, but I don't think that I've even had those for a couple decades.

I do not like Fig Newtons. I can stomach the Apple Newtons and the Raspberry; but on the whole, I am not a "Newton" fan. I always preferred Copernicus anyway.

Also, I didn't realize that F.W. Woolworth didn't go out of business. They just changed their name to Foot Locker.

My cousin made some molasses cookies last week and was silly enough to give them to me to transport to a family party. This was about 30 minutes after I had gotten off of the bike - many cookies failed to survive the car ride.

You know, many think that western cultures should/will have to embrace bug consumption in the near future with rising concerns over population and sustainability. It makes me wonder - will the prospect of a mealworm burger be the tipping point for many people in the decision to go veggie/vegan? I guess that I'll try anything once (except balut), but I can't see myself getting excited to throw some bugs on the grill.
