Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bees...damned bees... They're like little, yellow, football shaped homing missiles that spiral into you...and of course they get right into the helmet vents and WHAM!!! I was stung twice yesterday inside of 5 minutes... Good ride though, I'm getting stronger and I think the venom induced pain had a placebo effect keeping me from going into that wussy place in the mind... Nevertheless, I think a bandana over the forehead would go a long ways towards avoiding the stings...

Didn't hit the roads today, will get out for some hilly torture in the Palisades tomorrow.

Going to pick up this furry maggot in two weeks:

I had to gut the basement, a wee bit of a mold issue...clearance testing on Monday, then I need proper drainage installed, and I have to re-finish the place... It works to my advantage, I'm secretly building my lair.

Daughter graduated HS with honors, going to Baruch College for psych...I'm doomed to a lifetime of analysis...

Good luck with the pooch HP..

Hope he continues to improve.

Interesting ride today started sweating bullets from the heat, then getting pummeled by hard rain.

...big fire in Napa, close enough to foul the air a little. There's a July 4th ride called the Freedom Ride here
Friday am down through the delta, but I get tired of sucking in the particulates this time of year.

Hey, Heathpack, how do you get around the whole air quality thing down there ? I h8 the smoke/smog. #wornoutlungs

I dunno, maybe I just climb above it? The smog is in the low places, after all. Plus nothing is currently on fire down here, a minor miracle considering the drought. I'm sure somebody will start the place burning on the 4th of July, though.

Speaking of which, the only good thing about having a sick dog & cancelled sail trip is that I can ride my bike a little. Maybe you should come down for 4th of July, escape the bad NoCal air? Glendora Mt Road is closed to motor vehicle traffic for the weekend so the road becomes a mass cycling event. See you Friday. It will be good training for Mammoth. I will even lend you one of my extra CF seatposts

The only pic I saw was the lakeside micturtion. Were there others? I didn't post any of the porn star I selected but we've been friends on Twitter for like three years and, though I think it would be just fine, I could ask her.

I've never ventured into TH and I'm not sure I'm ready to. Is it much worse than Living Carfree or A&S? I kind of enjoyed P&R when they weren't endlessly discussing false flag attacks by or maybe it was on Woody Allen.
