Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

99 degrees out by the airport yesterday. I thought I'd work on my beach tan so went riding shirtless. 20 miles with no spf should be no problem, right? Well maybe if I wasn't so damn slow. Back is bright red. Showering hurts

Hail damage sucks. I finally got the roofs fixed from last year, but I'm still dealing with the insurance payment paperwork stuff on it.

Good ride today. 58 miles, by the end of the ride temps up to 89 and very humid. A sweatfest, but all good.

The Saturn car drama continues...after my club ride I rode the bike to the garage. Mechanic said all good, new fuel pump etc. but the car lurched and would not travel more than a few feet before nearly dying. He thought maybe it was low on gas but now said he thinks the catalytic converter is clogged.

He did give me a big bad-ass Pickup truck as a loaner. My wife was very surprised to see me pull into the driveway in the behemoth.

I did find out that if the hubbie got orders I would be able to get a federal job fairly quickly at the new duty station. But alas, no such orders have appeared.

Indeed it does. This wasn't major, but enough to mess with foliage. Other parts of the city were hammered.

Sounds like an epic fail.

In a related note, we went to the outdoor pool at our local YMCA a few days ago. I took off my shirt, revealing major bike/farmer tan...my 14 year old daughter begged me to please put my shirt back on.

datlas, there are definitive ways to test all these items, and the worrisome part is that they aren't utilizing those methods.

Understood. Mechanic said they tested the fuel pump and it was not working. New one is working, but car not able to rev or run. So maybe two fails at once? Stay tuned.
