Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I actually follow this advice. I am dealing with some excruciating tendonitis in my elbow, and I spent days not riding, then realized I can hurt on my couch or hurt on the bike, so I have been riding.

How's the other side of the internet? Does anyone visit there or is it still the mods talking amongst themselves?

So... There's a bike I'm finding myself increasingly attracted to. I feel like someone in my position should know better and I've been neglecting the bike I already have so I have no business looking around. But this other bike is very different from mine; not even a kind I've considered. I feel bad about it so I haven't even talked to LoP about it. But, man, when I look at that thing...

Haven't ridden my bike for nearly 3 weeks. Did a 63km commute + messages yesterday, most of that with the extra drag of a sidewall dynamo. My legs were toast. I was down to the low gear to get home.

Buy the bike. Just buy the bike. You'll thank me later.

Vicelord crashed and is in ICU? Ouch.

Other than that, seems pretty quiet on the other side.

If all else fails come to the Houston Medical Center. There is a hand and wrist specialist here, Dr. Mark Henry. He is a genius. Apparently elbow tendonitis is treated by hand and wrist specialists. He researches and publishes extensively and really knows his stuff. He says absolutely no cortisone injections, they do more harm than good. There is often no real inflammation in the tendon so no anti-inflammatory is indicated. If there is no real inflammation, it is actually tendonosis, not tendonitis. He can tell right away which you have. Also he says no strap support just below the elbow. He thinks it causes nerve damage. I was about six months into a terrible bout of tennis elbow (remind me never to pick up a screwdriver) and he had me cured in about four weeks. Just physical therapy. I feel for you. It is nice to be able to squeeze a jar top to open the jar again.

I forgot to mention I worked for Ted Taylor in the research group that eventually (long after me) invented Alimta, the dazzling new cancer drug. It all started with our work around methotrexate and other pteridine folate antagonists.
