Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So the Bonts didn't work out for your one foot?

So far no. I use them but not sure if they are causing injury or i'm due for some rest. It may be that i am overcompensating with my calf as to not apply presure on the hot spot. Or it could be me not being used to 10+ hour weeks anymore. I'm taking a rest week this week and i'll report saturday or sunday as i'm planning an 80+ mile ride. I hope to be able to determine by then.

I sure hope they work for your sake. 80 miles in the seat with shoes that are a "no" would suck. Maybe double bake them and try to bake once more before your ride? They are meant to mold several times, so it wont hurt the shoe any. If it doesn't work, you can say you tried them and sell them for pretty close to what you paid. If you do sell them, put them up on paceline or slowtwitch classifieds. Lots of views there and Bonts seem to sell pretty quick as well

Try to be conscious of putting weight on the outsides of your feet and physically lifting the "arch" of your foot throughout the day- when standing still, sitting, pretty much whenever you can remember.
I grew up my whole life with extremely flat feet like your one pic. An ex GF told me she "fixed" her arches and I laughed at her but decided to try it.
I now have mini arches! Takes a while and I still am conscious of keeping the arch but even my family cannot believe it. Hope it helps. Good luck.

I still recommend some insoles for flat feet. Check out REI. When I tried mine on with soles, it completely disguised how the original foot bed of the shoe was shaped like. If yiu have enough room to use an insole, I would highly recommend it.

Very happy with my new Bont shoes.

Wider toe box means more comfort than my old Shimano shoes.

Very stiff (but old shoes were low-mid range).

Fitting and the whole warming in the 'toast and grill' was fun. Person fitting me had a few tricks. One point on the shoe was pinching a bit, so she put a couple of thicknesses of bar tape on my foot (right at the problem area) before the whole heat setting process to ensure that bit was pushed a tiny bit more. Finished result wonderful.

Luis,

Sorry that it may not be working out to be the best shoe for you (and that I'm using you as a guinea pig since I was considering the same ones). Similarly I have a foot that is so flat people are amazed, where yours are as flat as the earth circa 1942 mine are practically concave. The only shoes that I'm comfortable wearing are completely flat like top siders and penny loafers. Very few sneakers have ever worked well and even custom ski boots and orthotics have never worked. When I've looked at specialty options I've always been told not to bother...

The funny thing is that the S-works shoes have not bothered me (using their red insole I believe, the flattest one), maybe they don't have a support molded into the base. I was planning to look into the Bonts but alas that may not work.

I've heard that the Sidi Wire's don't have any arch support and rely on any footbed you may put in. Perhaps that is an option for the next pair. I might try them as well and will report back if I do. Or maybe you can be a tester yet again !

robbyville as I suggested above, if you are looking into this shoe, I'd go with a half size bigger and go with an insole from REI. Those insoles raise your foot a bit which is why I'd go with a half size bigger. I tried to use them but my toe was then too close to the end. Using this insole will over ride the tub of the shoe and you shouldn't have any issues with the arch. The huge advantage to the Bonts is in the wider toe box which has been mentioned time and again to be extremely nice to have the extra toe space. Yiu can also look into buying used pairs since yiu can remind and at half the cost. Check out pacing and slowtwitch from time to time. They are often sold on there.

The problems is that the shoes may be a too fit as it is and there is no room for inserts. I may try them out but let see how may feet feel this weekend.
