In my bargain hunting, I've come across closeout Di2 hydro lever sets for 150 bucks or so. That gave me the incentive to price out everything, and it still came out close to $1k when it was all said and done.
Meanwhile, mechanical has gotten quite reasonable, which makes the Di2 an even tougher sell.

Vain, But Lacking Talent
I keep entertaining the idea of upgrading the Crockett to 11 speed, but I found those Shimano v-brakes almost accidentally and they are specifically designed for the 5700/6700 brake pull. I worry I might spend a chunk if money and end up with brakes that don't work as well.
Truthfully, I've given some thought to buying the newer Crockett disc frame and building up from scratch.

Holy crap. That. Was. Fun!
Absolutely destroyed myself, got what was a great result for me, got a new best 20 minute FTP and had an absolute blast riding down some rough roads I wouldn't have ever found otherwise. I'll try to give some more deets later.

Ha. I was just thinking about building up a wheel set with this method. With electronic shifting, compatibility and obsolescence is a bit more concerning.

Since I'm a retro-grouch, I still run rim brakes and 10 speed Di2. Most of my wheels are now 11 speed compatible, so when and if a derailleur dies, it's just a matter of replacing those. The levers are switches, and those don't know the difference between an 11 speed and a 10 speed shifter.

I'd probably just do 2 groups for labour:
1: thumbies, DT, barend, side exit brifters, gripshift with cable access hatch, triggers with hatch
2: triggers without hatch, rear exit brifters, gripshifts without hatch,
3sp triggers would be split between the two I reckon, some are easier than others...
