Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I really want to do another >100 mile ride tomorrow, but looks wet so will have to settle for more fake miles. I think the Mallorca Mafia are planning a 130 miler for next weekend which I think may be our longest ride before the 312.

We're one week away from the last group here at our site being laid off, which leaves only 3 of us. And since it's a Friday and the laid off are all winding down their work, I'm the only guy in the building. Come April, it'll be even worse. And we haven't found a new office space yet.

The specific people in both are fine, in aggregate. I'd much rather more space and quiet in general though.

You would enjoy Ontario, CA in the summer - city noise and hot cattle at the same time.

Being one who is more accustomed to city noise than rural smells, I’ll take the noise (all other things being equal).

Pretty sure the crashes are caused because people aren't slowing down, and if they're that inattentive, they're also likely to mow down cyclists and pedestrians.

I was only found in time thanks to an observant next door neighbor. She noticed the back door to my deck open and only my bathroom light on for an extended period. She went to the neighbor on the other side of me. She has the combination to my lock box from cat sitting. That was on 12/31. Judging from my skin sores, I had likely been there since Friday night or Saturday morning.

kind of funny that it might be three feet off.

Later research in the 1980s suggested that the copper bolt head, left exposed inside the center of the column, was actually from a coast and waterways survey started in 1852, and that the 1851 public lands survey mark, a small rectangular depression in the rock summit, is actually three feet northeast from the center of the pillar, a point that is now under the floor of the museum. If this is true, then the column, and the axis of the entire building, is off by 36 inches.

I originally didn’t want to hear the details because they upset me so much.

I had a lot of hallucinations along the way. One thing I think really happened was being brought to on my kitchen floor by an EMT using Narcan. That seems to be SOP when there is no sign of injury. My memory is that I started telling the EMT that I wasn’t a junkie. I also remember signing consent forms with an X because I didn’t have the coordination to sign my name.
