Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

There are not many hills in FL but lots of them in VA. So whether you ride a 1-speed or a many-speed depend where you live -- how many hills there are where you live.

It depends on how many hills in your area.

It depends on where you live. FL has few hills to climb, no need for gears. VA has many hills to climb, unless you live on the coast, you need gears.

Bikes: 65 Bikes/Frames

A few of my Fixed wheel bikes

The only bikes I rode in the 1960's where all fixed wheel, as a young apprentice I could not afford the gears.

When I retired my hobby became finding and fixing up a few old warriors.

A few of my bikes can be seen at this link:

I like the vintage Aussie bikes and I like Canadian CCM Flyers, I have (4) of these in various stages of work in progress.

A few of my bikes are shown in the attached photos.

Over 70 and still vertical.

AFAIAC moonm - your bikes qualify for the pr0n thread and you should be allowed to post them there directly yourself

Some of them look a little familiar - do you by any chance belong to and post in the "Steel Is Real" facebook group?

Love your 123 station wagon too...

Bikes

Hello IAmSam,
No I have not posted any of my bikes on the Steel is Real Facebook page, however, I think other folks may have borrowed my Flickr photos and done so (Cinelli's).
I have a few bikes that I am working on that are not on my Flickr site, these come to mind.
1940's Jim Broome
1962 Frejus
1957 McLean
1970's Dardenne track bike that was built for J P Barbe, photos of this bike can be seen on the previous owners Flickr site.

Some information regarding Barbe can be seen at these links:

CAB Cyclisme ces années là

The 300TD is a 1985 with 171K miles on the clock.
