Puma Presents: Fixed Gear 101
#26
The good thing about fixies being all popular is that in a few years there will be a bunch of hipsters looking to get rid of their barely used parts, frames etc...
It will be the modern version of POGS, or Beanie Babies.

I thought it was quite alright. The one thing that bugs me about it is that they make it seem so hard, and dangerous, and such an accomplishment to ride one of "those crazy bikes". If it was that hard not that many people would be doing it. If you can walk you can most likely ride one.
Reminds me of what happened to snowboarding. I thought I was so very cool because I was one of the first people riding one of these at my local hill. Then one day, I saw my friend's mom and dad at the top of the hill. They told me how much the loved it and then proceeded to gracefully riding down the hill. Snowboarding became popular because it had the "cool" AND was super easy to learn. Same with fixed gear bicycles, rollerblading, and smoking cigarettes.

you can't just jump into something of interest and expect to be a pro at it nor should anyone "expect" that others will/should be.
you could have just left your statement at, "I am all for cycling."

i'm taking a stab to suggest that josh was trying to say the puma ass wiper promotes proper fixed gear equipment and setup rather than making a garbage bumbike...

I have no problem with the visibility of Team PUMA - it has done a lot for the sport of track racing, whether anyone wants to admit it or not. Heck, it is a great opportunity for the riders. It is everything else that is profits driven that is currently in the propwash of it all. The book is nothing special or new.

I was just saying that if someone starts riding a fixed-gear (for whatever reason), you can't expect them to be a pro right out the box.
