What do you mean self proclaimed? I have references. Stop by later and I'll show them to you.

there are some whiny *****es on this ****. i could tell brunop was joking from the giddy-up. i just love seeing all of the lurkers come out to express how offended they are that their ss bikes aren't cool enough (not saying they're not cool myself, just talking about one possible perception). if you're that easily rattled, maybe the problem lies as much with you as it does with the haters. yall need to get good with yourselves... for real.

the OP has spoken.

MrCjolsen 05-13-06 12:52 PM

There's a sixth grade girl at the school where I teach who rides a bike that is brakeless and has a freewheel. She showed how she stops -- Fred Flintstone style. I think she's a bit tougher than any of us.

Makes me want to go out in my garage and turn my wheel around to the freewheel side, go for a ride and write along, detailed post about it on this forum.

slopvehicle 05-13-06 12:59 PM

ok, so what's worse:

- a track bike built up with a freewheel, or

- a road bike built up with a track cog, or

- a road bike with the cable stops and deraileur hanger filed off and the friggin' water bottle boss holes filled running steel track drops, brakeless, with as much NJS **** as possible, or

- a $2000 3 rensho / Nitto / Cinelli / pure awesome track bike that's used to transport the owner to Overpriced PBR Night at that one bar with Dio in the jukebox?

LóFarkas 05-13-06 01:47 PM

They are all great:D

Nope, only penny farthings and unicycles should be allowed. Oh, and children's tricycles, too.

Hubs, seats and weeny little wire spokes are lame-ass.

Daaaamn. Jolly rogers and the Star of David.:D That's pretty hard, right there. I personally like to blend Confederate flags with Rasta colors, or swastikas and the happy face, but that's just me. I like to shake things up a bit...

Now, where is that bar with the jukebox that plays Dio?

Hey, that sounds like my bike....well, except for the NJS stuff.

If one of you girl-pants wearing dumbasses
don't be hatin'

ChicagoDave 05-13-06 10:52 PM

I thought the point of the argument was people riding really nice track bikes with freewheels - not freewheels in general. This is the same as say a commuter riding a full suspension downhill bike and putting slicks on it because "all those knobs slow me down".... SS is cool with me, some friends ride it here in the city and I think it's great. Yeah, it would be cool if we all rode fixed - but I respect their reasons... its bicycle love people, unconditional.
