Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

as it just so happens, I just got back from a ride on my fixed gear. Which happens to be brakeless. I was wearing Nikes, and on top of all that, I had no problems. The ad seems appropriate.

Haha, Punch is on the list of places I want to visit when I get over there, I hope it isn't weird that bike shops etc are half the things on the list of stuff I plan to see on a visit, several stops of which were added from reading about them here on BF. NJS envy FTW

edit- nike is the grr evil save the children think of the children oh my who will think of the children

f*ck all you haters. i love this ad. in fact i would like a poster of it.

in fact i would like a poster of it SIGNED by the guys in the ad.
can you name one other sport that nike took on that became big sh*t?

basketball was already big. baseball? psssh already an "american past time"
who cares. do you own a bike that works? do you like to ride it? do you have a decent group of friends that like to ride too?

that is all you need. if you need help on how to own your own culture i would suggest reading ad busters or culture jam(or is it culture jamming) by kayle lassen. otherwise......this sh*ts in japan and if you havent noticed a lot of stuff happens there that never reaches our shores.

bridgestone.....i mean anchor anyone? panasonic? try getting your hands on a complete from either company in the united states.....aint gonna happen(yet).

But the ad won't help the sport reach our shores, because the ad is in Japan.

Bikes: All have flats.

Doesn't nike run sweatshops?
Says the man eating a Big Mac.
Anybody recommend some good sneakers that fit well in strap and cages? Something tough, with a good sole? I'm getting tired of clipless shoes.
Ad looks cool.

Honestly, if Nike teamed up with Trek to make a track bike everyone here would cream over it.
