Thanks Andre, for correcting me. How loose is too loose? Back when I started riding, I threw a chain. I've been riding mine with only a little sag but no where near old lady boob sag- what would you say is a good chain tension? It takes a whiiiile for me to wear down my drivetrain- so I figure it's been alright.

It's too loose when you start throwing chains, and that's mainly it. Chainline is one determining factor of when this happens, as is matching componentry (everything being 1/8 or 3/32). Before that, no problem except preference. I really can't tell you over the internet, I can only tell by track standing on a bike and gauging how much play there is with my feet :)

Just arrived today! I'll be letting a dear frame go now that this is here. Will change a few things though (especially the wheels)

Whoa. Whoah.

deathhare 01-25-08 03:06 PM

Nice!
Please throw the nascar surly chain tensioners in the river.
They disgrace that hot frame.

Update-
It's freezing and ice is everywhere. I've been riding slower so I threw these bars on for winter.

Awesome. The gusset on the seatstays is trippin' me out. What year was that made?

I have no clue the year. I was just as tripped out as you since the pics that were shown never revealed that cool factor to it. When I opened the box, I was speechless

holy amazing frame D... can you mail me your cdale for valentine's day, now?

shants 01-25-08 04:00 PM

ahh, so you're the turd who got the guy to end his auction early. with those closeups, though, i'm glad i didn't go after the frame. it's not quite my thing.

Gyeswho 01-25-08 04:27 PM

as far as style you no like or clearance?

spacehippo 01-25-08 04:30 PM

Gyes... LOVE that frame. The Surly tensioner needs to go, like yesterday. Some MKS tensioners would clean that right up.

love love that frame.

+1 on changing the wheels too.

i like the triple triangle, but the brake bridge gusset feels a bit off to me, and now that i see the frame with decently detailed photos, the lugs seem at odds with the triple triangle style. i still think it's quite a nice frame, but not for me. that said, i'm looking for a 58 gt pulse (or gtb, mayhaps).

Gyeswho 01-25-08 04:35 PM

yea... I know but I'm into riding that darn thing (even though the MKS's would add to it). function over fashion is my thing...but if you have some MKS's you want to give complementary then I won't mind at all:D;)

yea I hear ya. Since I sold the GT (a bit to small and the all aluminum really is too rough for my style on the long runs) when I saw that it had the same style ALONG with being lugged (I really love lugged frames) that got me
