It was a nice day today, i couldn't pass up the chance to take my new bike for a nice ride. This is my new daily bike, a 2008 Kona Paddy Wagon. All stock right now, except for pedals, and I swapped out the stock saddle with the Kona comfort saddle from my mtb, until I can get a new one.

The paddy wagon dealt with it all appropriately. I'm still a little graceless riding fixed, mostly right now getting used to toe clips, but i'm getting the hang of it. I'm a noob to this site.... but not to riding. Here is my daily........ several thousand miles ago.

i think out of all the street-fixed complete bikes, the kona is my favorite. i don't necessarily like the sloping top tube, but the build has a way better quality feel to it.
and, why is every one of those leader frames so small? or is it just that they look really small? |
the downtube intersects at a higher point so it looks about 2 inches smaller than normal but that one is truly tiny. i mean good god, look high up the crank must come on the seat tube.

it's a 51 cm i'm 5 ' 6" but i have small legs

From tonight, one of the first mild-weather rides of the year.

new nagasawa bike. came with the saddle. trying to change that out now for an orange one. anyone know who makes an orange saddle? thinking about doing deep-v orange for the wheels, and/or orange tires, since the wheels/tires are too plain for me.

Hi from Auckland, New Zealand! I semi-finished my first SS today..
http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/206...001copynh3.jpg Picked up the complete bike for $20. The frame is a 12 spd Carlton from the early 80's. The rear hub is a shimano uniglide rear freehub, the very first design that is press fitted onto splines without the hollow bolt. Running the standard small 40T crank and 17T rear sprocket, giving 63.5 gear inches. I took the cassete off and drilled out the rivets holding it together, then reused those spacers along with a new one I made from pvc pipe to get the chainline straight. Locked it all up tight reusing the threaded outer 13T sprocket. Wheels are standard 27x1 Araya with some cheap new tyres. Standard cranks and pedals, unfortunately no clips but ill plan to scrounge some soon. Removed rear brake. Still to do: Grind off rear brake guides on top tube & derailleur mount, sand back and repaint, new saddle (maybe), new chain. I absolutely love riding it! It feels so light and responsive, and not worrying about gears is great. Any general ideas for a colour scheme? I quite like the white and blue, but im open to any good suggestions.. Cheers! |
