Seriously, how big an oven do you have? Do you take it to a Pizza shop and ask them to bake it up for you? |

You can do it at home if you have an oven big enough.
Ive powdercoated stuff before at home. There are cheap kits you can buy. I got one from http://www.eastwoodco.com/ |

I can tell you applying the powder is as easy as spray painting something. The awesome part is that anything that you get any on stuff like your garage floor or whatever is easily just swept up. Also, not all kinds of knarly fumes like spray painting. Of course you dont wanna ingest any powder though im sure. |

Of car parts? I dont have any pics. Ive just done alternator brackets, valve covers, a brake booster once. Just little junk mostly.

The main problem is that clear coat isnt designed to stick well to bare metal. It cant hold on and even many coats sometimes wont help because the base coat just starts to let go.
Ive done this to a couple of frames. It lasts for awhile, maybe 6 months or so depending on the weather. Then you start to see small 'veins' of rust start to spread under the clear. I guess it comes from some pin hole or tiny knicks. At this point itll get more and more in that area. Its not rot and can still be saved. http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?i...emType=PRODUCT |

Wow, very interesting. How long have you had it powdered for?

This is how I got it. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...n/DSC01188.jpg This is the most recent picture I have. It's now single speed with new crank. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...n/DSC02395.jpg |
Nice, who made the decals? Or, can anyone recommend an onlilne decal maker? I've google'd and come up with many but I would like to someone who has actually used decals on their bicycle....thanks.
|
I got them from the shop that built the bike. Still make frames after 60 years. A mile away from me.

That's an awesome restoration. I love bare metal frames. Looks like your clear powder coat has held up well also.
