one more thing, i will change the saddle soon, this is from my old bike lol,,,, and the seatpost is really high because i was hanging it on the bike stand

looks clean! I dig it, though thats a bit much seat to bar drop for my tastes

ThunderChunky 03-06-08 08:55 PM

rae just said the reason for the high seatpost . looks great man! i'm not crazy about the cranks, but i love the silver frame w/ silver wheels.

EDIT: and please change that seat as fast as possible!!

conor 03-06-08 08:55 PM

goddamn, rae. i had my doubts, but that is a nice bike. the anodized rds are a nice touch.

orangepaint 03-06-08 08:59 PM

Wait...was "sparton frame" and "light" just used in the same sentence?

Looks good though. Wheels = formulas + DP18's?

conor 03-06-08 09:29 PM

my only complaint is the white chain. i'm not sure why, but i think i want the bike to be monochrome except for the chainring. maybe the white seat will pull it together, though.

ChiapasFixed 03-06-08 09:58 PM

thought id better post my new bamboo fixie. home-made fixed hub until i can get a legit track hub from the USA or Canada sent down here. the parts are all cheap stuff found in southern mexican bike shops. the frame was made by me using 2 kinds of bamboo. it is like riding a cloud over bumps, yet plenty stiff. i am very happy and will soon be making another, cleaner looking bike.http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/4967/dscf5987fb0.jpg

pirate 03-06-08 10:05 PM

Whoa. What did you use for the joints, resin and some kind of fiber? Looks really good btw.

ChiapasFixed 03-06-08 10:10 PM

henequen (or sisal) fiber from a large agave plant + polyurethane resin used in auto body mods
not a technique i invented by btw, see calfee design

RaeFixie 03-06-08 10:12 PM

im glad u didnt get a bamboo fork too...

queerpunk 03-06-08 10:15 PM

I agree completely. Surprisingly nice build but a silver chain is a must, also I hope the new saddle is still black.

Borat and I approve of this bike.

bexley 03-06-08 10:35 PM

You're f u ck ing kidding me. And here I am, kinda proud of having put together my bikes like lego pieces.

hudsong 03-06-08 10:45 PM

Wow, that bamboo bike is something special.

I_luv_hooters 03-06-08 10:53 PM

rae, get rid of that white chain and get a silver one. later when you have money, get a white saddle too. But that bike is really nice, though. good job.

FazeOne 03-07-08 12:20 AM

Rae, did that frame give you any problems during the build?

RaeFixie 03-07-08 12:29 AM

yes it did gave me problem, i needed to file the drop out because of the sucky ass paint job and shim the seat tube, i bought it when it was still cheap tho... im personally happy with it because its not as heavy as i thought it would be.. but i would not recommend this frame for people who want to have some real deal... especially the price is ridiculous now for its price...:D my mentor was like, "so r u going to give a bad review about this frame?" i was like "yes!" hah..

next time i get a frame i'd rather save up some money and get a concept (idk why i like this frame so much)... well you get what you pay for....

jgarcia186 03-07-08 12:37 AM

well you did a great job on your first build.

i wish i would have something this cool for my senior project. i just talked about the arms depot in Umatilla. LAME!

aside from the fact that the chain and crank clash with the rest of the build, i like it. however it's pretty obvious that your bike is a few cm too small for you, and you'd have a hell of at time running anything other then risers with a stem like that. next build you might want to up your bike size about 3-4cm.

jgarcia186 03-07-08 12:48 AM

Andre he put a disclaimer saying that it was extended for the bike clamp at the LBS.

edit: well i guess in the other pics the saddle is pretty high. my bad

Would make a cool headbadge.

It's not very obvious, but 'luceo non uro' runs down the fork blades - he's pretty well thought of everything.

do you get that from my seatpost? because if so ... my seatpost was high like that because i was hanging it on a bike stand when i cut my handlebar... idk if i am clear enough or not:o
