This is among the most beautiful bicycles I have ever seen.

nateintokyo 03-05-08 10:27 AM

looks super nice, but somehow I think stems with less drop look better with bullhorns....track drops and that stem would look great..... great frame though!

mediccody 03-05-08 11:12 AM

I know that most of you probably already saw my bike but I took some better photos and now have it in ridable condition.

Wheels are Mavic CXP22 rims laced by me with Wheelsmith spokes to Miche Primato hubs. Stem is an old SR from the parts bin, handlebars are Nitto randonneur bars, and the cranks are Sugino XD, which I will someday replace with Miche Primato track cranks.

On the list of things to do: fix handlebar tape, buy new pedals, clips, straps, saddle.

Now that bike is coming together.

lhcommons 03-05-08 11:24 AM

I believe that wroomwroomoops should be congratulated!! The picture shown in his sig exactly captures everything wrong with that horrid bike. Within maybe 2 inches of bike, four clashing colors!

jet sanchEz 03-05-08 11:31 AM

To each their own dood.

bexley 03-05-08 11:45 AM

I love the technicolour bike. I should've bid on that frame.

I'm glad you pre-empted the peanut gallery on the ugprades that bike deserves: pedals/clips/straps, cranks, and saddle.

Something I hate is the abundance of Brooks saddles on horrid bikes, but your ride, my friend, deserves a green or black Brooks so badly.

I totally agree. Like most people here who rag on the bikes, I am not being entirely serious: assuming the owner likes it and rides it, the bike is 100% perfect. At least I hope most of you abusive pricks are only kidding....

On a more serious note: contemplating that bike has made me seriously reconsider an aerospoke. The aesthetic possibilities are limitless! Even the pastels don't seem that bad!

Gyeswho 03-05-08 12:35 PM

So here's an update of the "do it all'r". BTW If you're curious Mark Vs can fit up to 35mm tires on it. Tires are Vittoria Randonneurs with reflective strip. Get at nashbar for a little less than $30 if you enter the coupon code

I agree! That bike is the most horrible thing created by human hand! You ought to see the full pic from my sig:
Most hideous bike ever!

For more of this abomination, clicky. Have a bucket near by - just in case.

jgarcia186 03-05-08 01:51 PM

not gonna lie. i like that bike.

trons 03-05-08 02:17 PM

Not mine but thought its worth posting. Cool story behind it. My friend originally bought of Craigslist for $450. Original color was black and he rode it everywhere. About a year later it gets stolen while he's in class so he goes to all the bike shops in town and tells them size, color, description, etc..... Week later shop calls him and says they think theyve got his bike. Turns out the theif couldnt get the bottom bracket off but did manage to sand down the frame and take off everyother part. So my friend gets the thief's name, calls him up, tells him that if he doesnt get his **** back he is gonna come to his house with all his friends and beat the **** outta him. Theif had already got rid of the components once he found out the cops were on him so my friend got $800 compensation instead from him, he originally paid $450 for the whole thing! Sweet deal if you ask me.
