That is one of the things that isnt done yet. It works, but it is sketchy. That brake is only for backup too. I need to get a new lever. I also should probably tape the bars. Not sure what color yet. And my seat sucks too. And I need to do something about the front wheel color, or maybe just put a red and black tire up front too. Not sure yet.

I also like the mustache bars, but am interested in putting the soma walker racers on them because I would like more drop. Has anyone had those/seen a bike with them?

Does the Bianchi fit you ok?
Low saddle, high bars?

yeah it fits perfect, though I made some adjustments to the saddle height and lowered the bars a little.....

the Didey 08-20-08 09:21 AM

73? Falcon. Mostly off the shelf parts and salvaged center pull calipers from BICAS.

UrbnArtst. Please tell me you're going to leave those levers on there. And please move them occasionally while you're riding.

bakaster 08-20-08 09:27 AM

nice.
i love the black and green

+1

(didn't notice that at first)

the Didey 08-20-08 10:23 AM

Thanks for the heads up. I double checked it, but I think the picture makes it looks sloppy when it isn't. I might have also had the wheel off since the pic was taken, I can't remember. Either way it's good now.

jpdesjar 08-20-08 11:06 AM

sweet ride by the way
in the picture it looked as though the wheel was all the way back with some chain slack...glad it's fixed now

Oh no. Was that a nice, working, classy road bike that you just turned into a fixed gear?

Opinion: I hope you didn't do that.
Suggestion: Un-do that, if you did that.
Compliments: I bet it looked nice with two derailleurs.

Suggestion #2: Get a light that is more of a light and less of an accessory.

There is nothing wrong with just having a nice, simple conversion with silver parts. That looks like a clown's bicycle.

the Didey 08-20-08 11:49 AM

thanks.

It's not all the way back, but it's close. I tried to make it so that I could use the flop on the flip-flop hub (16t freewheel and 18t cog). I was pretty amazed at how small of an adjustment took the chain from deathgrip to super-slop when the chainline is that long.

First off it i received it without any parts on it except the stem and seatpost, so i would have never known what it look liked before...the reason why it looks clean is because i put in 20 minutes of buffing on to the frame. The light was given to me for FREE, so who can beat that unless your going to steal one off anothers bike....:thumb:

joetotale 08-20-08 12:18 PM

Nothing wrong with converting that Bianchi to fixed, just don't take a Dremel to it, whatever you do.

Cool. I like the Bianchi, I just get sad when a functioning geared bike is stripped down to convert.

Free is good. Don't steal lights, but I'm sure you were just kidding. I would still suggest investing in a better tail light. Anyway, nice bike. A black Bianchi is a nice machine.

Oh...do be careful with the cable guides on the top tube. Those can gouge your leg when you are backpedaling. You can file them off, but as mentioned, this will mean they won't be there should you ever want to run it with gears again or install a rear brake. But, you could just zip tie the cable down if you do remove them.

matt wisconsin 08-20-08 05:32 PM

If someone rides fixed gear exclusively and has no need for a geared bike, then who cares. They obtained the bike and they chose to strip off nice parts. What is with the annoying trend of "OMG DONT CONVERT THAT PLZ" on here? this is the SSFG forum. not to be an *******, just confused.
