why the single red spoke on the front and rear?

Jonny B 03-11-04 03:18 PM

Why not? I like little details, and since it has red decals, and red wall tyres... Kind of an homage to Mavic's Tour Centenary Kysriums.

OneTinSloth 03-11-04 03:22 PM

aah. i like it, i was just wondering if it was serving a larger purpose.

streners 03-11-04 08:19 PM

I like the downward sloping top tube, oh and the red spoke is cool. Looking good. Mine has a slight downard top tube, yet to take any decent photos though

3Rensho NJS certified frame with all Campy Record, minus headset, which is Dura Ace NJS.

MKRG 03-14-04 06:13 PM

NICE! Whatcha got going on in the back spokes?

badchad 03-14-04 06:22 PM

Spoke cards from a few local alleycats.

-or-

The wheel is laced 3-cross and radial on the non drive side, so it may look a bit weird.

streners 03-15-04 10:23 PM

hell yeah that's hot

I love the way the pimp ass gold chain matches the gold details on the frame. Is the saddle colour coordinated too?

that's at the port not too far from my house... its kinda nice to ride there on teh weekends b/c there's wide open roads and no traffic... just some rail crossings :( ...but we were down there riding this weekend, and happened to have the camera :)

trekkie820 03-16-04 09:35 AM

that would kinda suck if the train started moving then :(

Hey Marked001........ How did you fix the hub on that Spinergy?? I've got a set of Spinergies I'd like to convert but it's got a Campy 8-sp body.

George

marked001 03-16-04 06:23 PM

unfortunately, I had to go the loctite method with these... which, I'm sure...alot of people dont agree with..but I've done a few and ridden alot and havent had a problem yet <knock on wood>

my intention was to attempt to use the surly fixxer...but not paying attention to the description in the ebay auction, I didnt realize these had a threaded hub...

Jonny B 03-16-04 07:05 PM

Surely if it's threaded you could just use a normal track cog?

auk 03-16-04 07:06 PM

How does the chainline shake out? I smell loctite....

Always a front brake. In additoin, a BB lockring and yet more loctite does the trickery.

Here is my main bike (only thing that runs right now), used for getting around town, commuting to school/work, chasing rats in alleys. 1989 trek 330 (I figured this out from brochures on the fine website vintage-trek.com) that a friend found behind a dumpster in north carolina while on a road trip. Aparently it was intact as a 12-speed sport bike then which rode fine, but when he brought it home a really weird roommate of his decided he wanted to "tinker" with it, and ****ed up the drivetrain for no reason (looked like he stuck a screwdriver in the rd and bent it along with the hanger). My friend passed it on to me to play with and I painted it (brown rattle-can-I love brown bikes) and completely rebuilt it. Nothing too special, surly/mavic rear wheel, front wheel whatever the hell it came with (I want to change to non-qr axle to simplify locking up) new tektro dual-pivot brake, profile stoker bars, oh and a used selle italia flite saddle. This is basically the nicest bike I've ever owned, mainly because it is light, fast, and everything runs nice and smoothly. I've also learned a tremendous amount about bike repair/construction in the past 6-8 months I've been playing around with it. And I love riding fixed. It wears me out, but the simplicity and connection to the terrain are great qualities.
