finally got my crap together and found a digital camera. Here she is, folks, Sue the Surly. Note the lovely knitted bike cosy. That would be Takhi Bianca 100% wool. Lovely, no? Also note the shiny silver handlebar airplane that flies along with me. Ah, toys.

Oh, yeah, you probably care more about bike parts than yarn. Well, then. Surly Steamroller frame, surly hubs and cog, Sugino chainring, mavic rims, unknown stem, and nashbar tt bars. No brakes. 44x17. And shimano deore cranks, harvested for free off another of my bikes. (My hope is to get real track cranks... as soon as i have money. which means probably never.)

Let's just say that Surly doesn't make 'em any smaller. And it's not like I'm supershort-- I'm 5'4". But now y'all should understand why I can't get rid of my overlap problem... and I refuse to downsize from the 700's.

I tried the 49cm from SOMA but is proved too small. I'm 5'5" and the 49cm Surly seems a bit bigger.

these are not my bikes but my friend eric made them and i figured they should be on here so people can see what nice bikes he makes. his website is not worth checking out right now. it has not been updated in 3 years and he has progressed a lot as a builder since then. he is roomates with chris (isotopesope) so if you have questions to ask i think he might be the one to ask.

the camo bike is rattlecan but the other was done by spectrum powder works. here is a close up

The army bike is a little too new school for my tastes generally, but combining the camo paint makes it look pretty seriously badass in a technokiller sort of way.

Fianlly got some decent pics of my ride. Been having him for about 5 months now and it's my main ride to and from work (4mi each way) and anywhere else I need to go. I'm thinking about going with some fatter tires the next time around to deal a little better with the crappy New Orleans streets - but here you go. In personal news, since selling my car and riding my bike exclusively in june, I've lost 15 pounds and my blood pressure and cholesterol are all below normal. Go me! :)

That's a solid looking fixie. My looks similar given that we share similar frames and the same bars. See FGG 1385 for a pic of mine. A couple of questions:

1. Why didn't you run your brake cable all the under the tape? You might be in trouble if that cable gets caught.

2. Why did you leave the extra chainrings on the crank?
