Well, when I wrapped it I didn't have a brake, so when I finally got a brake I decided to go under the tape but I couldnt get it past that first curve without unwrapping the bars. I ended up just stabbing a coathanger through the tape, through the hole and up and out the bar end. Made sense at the time. :) I haven't had any problems, but I'm going to redo the tape anyway - the white part has NO PADDING on it it seems and my hands go numb even after a short ride.



That was basically me being lazy. I wanted it up and ridable ASAP so I just left them on. My plan was to take the inner ring off and use the outer ring as a chainguard (possibly grinding it down) but I want to step up to maybe a 40 chainring anyway so I'll probably just replace the whole thing when I do that.

it has been built up and at salvagetti for awhile now.

Insurance and gas just grew beyond by budget - not to mention the tickets I had that I couldn't pay for. I figured it was about time to simplify my life a bit. I needed the excersize anyway. My work is only ~4 miles each way, so it's not too far. I try to ride more on the weekends.

I outfitted my foul weather fixie w/ Nokian studded 700x35's, and had to quickly scrounge up a different fork to accomodate 'em. Here's a pic from this morning. No ice yet though, dagnabbit. They emit showers of sparks when skidding on dry pavement. Not really, just tryin' to start rumors.

Found it on Craigslist a few weeks ago...it was in stock trim except for the pedals, which were some cheap resin suckas. It was in like *mint* condition, then I got my hands on it and...

- Sprayed over all the logos.
- Threw a label from a brew over the headtube logo.
- Dura-Ace 16t cog.
- Recycled bar-tape from brake removal (haggard)
- El cheapo Wellgo pedals and Zefal clips.

thats a real clean build man. like the pink headset, nice touch.

The spray job looks great. I'm dying to get rid of the logos on my Langster. What king of paint did u use? Did u do anything to it befor painting? Please explain. I live in NYC and don't want any logos showing.

My winter fixie called "Battle Armada." It's a Fuji Pulsar frame with Nokians and some Cinelli bullhorns. I do believe I'm going to have to dig up another frame however, the toe overlap with the fenders is "track bike bad."

It doesn't look all that great in person, but honestly...I didn't want/expect it to look immaculate. The goal was just to get the logos covered up. I used Dupli-Color "Import Auto Spray" and the color is like "Honda - Graphite Gray Metallic." The paint matched really well for the most part, although it is a little more glossy than the stock job. As far as prep work, I didn't do anything. And mind you can still see the raised letters after you spray over them, but it's not all bad.

If I would've taken more time with it, it probably would've turned out really well. But for a about an hour worth of work on a gloomy afternoon, I am pleased.

I got this frame very cheap, it was screaming "fix me, fix me".. I have clipless pedals on my other fixies, and i wanted to have one bike with clips and straps.. 52x19

The Trek 412 I bought for $20. I stripped the paint, primered and painted it, cleaned and lubed the BB and headset, dished the rear wheel, and flipped and chopped the drops. It's pretty clean now.
The total cost $65: $16 for cheapie cog, $8 SRAM chain, $5 for chainring from Ebay (obsolete BCD), $0 for BB lockring from my converted Miyata, $11 for primer, paint, and clearcoat, $5 for new toe straps. Saddle and fenders I already had from another bike.

It's a 52cm with a 54cm top tube, just a tad big for me but feels OK since the stem is shortish. I may sell it or keep it for a rain bike. We'll see how it rides first.

That's pretty - I like the panel look and the choice of colours. Looks like a good commuter.

Makes me realize that I need to build up a bad weather bike.

Here are a couple photos in my bike after riding a bit a couple nights ago. The cyclocross tires are finally coming in handy, after riding on them for weeks of nice weather.

I switched from 44x16 to 42x16 for the wind/cold weather.

Thanks, the panels were inspired in part by the '05 Pista and the step by step how Richards Sachs frames got painted.
