How do you like the ride? What's the sizing (seat tube/top tube)? Where did you find a 24" wheel? Is it a Nishiki or a GT? Oh, and congrats on a SWEET ride. Here's mine: |
I love the converted rev-x rear wheel. I have wanted to do that forever but am to intimidated.

My new fixie (and my first). I call it Sir Fixalot. 1983 Lotus Elan cromoly frame and fork (~60 cm). 27" Araya and Weinmann rims. IRO flip flop hub, Sugino 2500 cranks, 39T chainring (the big one is coming off soon), 15T Soma Cog, Dura Ace lockring, rebuilt wheel with DT Swiss spokes, Star brake, fancy serviceable-bearing pedals off my road bike. All that remains is to lose the big chainring and tape the bar! Total cost: $125 plus hours and hours of fun work.

looks nice.. and yes.. lose the big chainring..i know you already said.. but i think that should be the first to go

Ok, my camera and I finally braved it-the batteries weren't too happy though.
For those keeping track, the silver Schwinn went back to it's original coaster brake configuration after a brief stint as my fixed. That crazy multi-colored cruiser has no wheels now. Here's the Fuji (Allegro, with the inconspicuous VALite tubing) Between this, and the previous fixed, everything is new (and black.) -Surly flip-flop rear, black, mated with black nipples to silver Velocity Dyad rim -Surly front, silver, mated with silver nipples to black Velocity Dyad rim -Michelin Transworld City, 700x35c with reflective sidewall (highly recommend these!) -generic alloy h-bars -'Gripshift' grips- sense of humor anyone? -cheap resin pedals -cheap Velo seat -Sakae chainring 46t, Surly cog, 18t -BMX stuff-DK post, Peregrine stem, RPM cranks in 165 -OLD HKK chain for winter, to become either SRAM PC 1 or PC 59, I haven't decided (but have both) -NOS Schwinn blinkie, shared with the Schwinn, of course I'd love to find a short Salsa stem for this, but they're $$$. Also, I've got some other juicy accessories for it, not yet added-hot pink bottle cage and toe straps! Thanks guys! Here's an old picture of the Schwinn, too. Jess |
I dig the handlebar bag - sweet!
|
SBL - awesome ride! Good to hear you have straps to put on it, I can't imagine riding brakeless on plain pedals.

Here is my first fixed/ss bicycle. I started with a 12 speed Centurion bicycle with 27" wheels, stripped the derailleurs and the smaller chainring, had Scott Taylor at Salvagetti in Denver build me a set of wheels, and voila, a fixed gear and single-speed bicycle! Of course, I had never ridden either type of bicycle, so I started single-speed, then just today flipped the wheel and went fixed gear. I still have all my teeth, but this is going to take some getting used to. Fun so far, though.

Attached Fetish Fixation SS set up for snow riding. Snow cat rims, I think I need to redo the gearing though. 34-18 is a bit hard on my old knees.
