I noticed them when he first posted that picture. But I didn't say anything, because they don't look bad on there. Not even silly.

rduenas 02-02-09 02:03 PM

Are all those FELT decals on the wheels removable? I'd take off 2 of 3. And see how it looks.

i r yo 02-02-09 02:38 PM

Yea the stickers on the wheels are removable.

The Difference

The red one is the old $250.00, yea (BD) ride for six month (give to a friend and turn them on to SS) The brown one I built with much better sealed component/wheels and is a much better ride. The frames are similar track frames so I can move parts around while I am waiting for replacements or if I have to ride through a bad part of town and leave it locked.

Yeah thats KMC chain on the miyata i was going to get a white one but the LBS was out so i got the pink with out even realizing how close it matched the color of the bike lol.

The weather bike:

The fixed: Standover has no room to spare, but no complaints other than that.

Just put on the silver wheels (cxp22/formula) from bicycle wheel warehouse and hand-me-down bars and stem.

When I ordered, I believe I got an email the following day (I ordered at night) saying that they'd received the order and would be shipping in 2-3 days, then I got a confirmation from UPS that they'd shipped.

Thank ya much! It's my workhorse. I'm lucky enough to be able to spend 90 minutes a day commuting on it.

mugatu 02-02-09 10:55 PM

that 3t hand me down stem may be the nicest component on the bike

I'd vote for the hand-me-down 3t ergosum bars, but that's just me. Or maybe the pedals.

An interesting factoid about the 3t stems: don't waste your money on the Team stem (unless you just want the red stripe), because it's no more than a couple of grams lighter than Pro stem...at least the 110mm length ones that I have on hand. I might move the Pro stem to this bike because I'm not sure I like the red on it. I thought it might work with the little red logo on the fork, but it's a bit much, really.

mugatu 02-02-09 11:51 PM

Ah yes, well I couldn't tell that the bars were ergosums from the pic, despite the fact that I have a set sitting in my living room right now :p
I disagree with their choice of creating different lines of components without a fluid aesthetic theme

Cut my steer tube so it looks pretty chill, and I got a silver chain that isn't in the picture, pretty rad. And this chain is lubed and clean so it's nice and quiet unlike my old one.

I love the ergosum bars. Love. It would be really nice if they offered a bar with the same bend where the shifters/levers mount, but with a shallower curve below that so it had 7-8mm more drop.

Not sure what you mean about a fluid aesthetic, though. The Pro bars look awesome with the Pro stem. I'm in the middle of a build with that setup (http://i42.tinypic.com/119ml3c.jpg). The Team stem with Pro bars looks fine if the rest of the bike has enough red so that the stem doesn't stand out so much; my road bike with easton wheels looks better with the red Team stem than the Pro. No way I can justify buying the Team bars, though.

Coomer 02-03-09 12:29 AM

Looks good...the first fixed gear I ever rode was a Langster London like that at a bike shop...I almost bought it on the spot but shopped around and when I came back it was gone.

Alex Steezeman 02-03-09 12:31 AM

Yeah I dig it, people don't like how they look but whatever, it's not a big deal. Or at least it shouldn't be.

alaska 02-03-09 12:48 AM

what the hell do you do with those bars? can you skid in all hand positions? it seems like you would have all the wrong leverage.

mustache bars are great.
the only thing with that guy's setup
is he's missing out on the best hand position (the top of the main bend)
because he has track grips on.
