I fear east coast burritos.
|
this place on (i think) 53rd and san pablo in oakland has the best burritos i've ever tasted. i think they're called los cantaros, or el cantaro...something like that. they're right across from one of those GIANT burger places...and a KFC, if i remember right. they share the lot with a donut place, a laundromat and something else....so much better than picante....
|
I'm a cancun man. I haven't found an incredible burrito in the east bay yet. Still, they beat the "san francisco mission style burrito" i had in new brunswick once. It had white rice in it.
I'll check that place out, though, it's close enough to home. |
i used to be a diehard burrito max fan, and especially the big burrito that was on brighton ave (it was the same exact restaurant, just different names.. but it was a cooler atmosphere. the employees were nicer. it closed for some reason). i still am, to some degree.. but seeing the same ol' "burrito max punx" in there everytime is a little annoying. it's like their retirement home or something. el pelon is a little cheaper and their guacomole is incredible. and they serve calabacitas (sp?) in the best salsa i've had in some time.
but then again, if you live on the west coast, you shouldn't even consider a burrito over here. but we got better pizza. anyway, i guess it wasn't your bike. but they were similar looking. |
you should try finding a decent burrito in the UK, man you'd be pining even for boston burrito's
|
I prefer Annas over all the other places I have tried in Boston, that is except for my own. I can make some damn fine mexican dishes. And soon I will introduce the Miga to this town. Two of the things I love the most. Fixed gear bikes and food. Oh what a world.
|
yeah, anna's is the ****. i never went there nearly as much as i wanted to, because there was always a line out the door and down the street.
the place where big burrito used to be turned into this pretty damn fine greek-ish restaurant. they have falafel and some really, really nice grilled portabello mushroom sammiches. |
hammye,
What frame is that? Man, that's cool! That would make a great commuter here in Indy. I found this bike on Sheldon Brown's site: http://sheldonbrown.org/images/columbia.jpeg I emailed him to get some info on the bike and he said that it's in pieces behind his furnace. I may email him back to see if he wants to sell it. I love old frames like that. |
It's a Van dessel country road bob. I got the frame off ebay for 60 bucks
|
chile relleno burrito from el grillo in pdx.
i miss that place so bad. |

looks pretty nice, except...i can't understand the reasoning behind those god awful ugly-ass forks. why the hell would you make them WIDER at the bottom?

almost all forks bend forward after the head tube, that one just has straight blades, so it looks more dramatic. if it went straight down at the same angle as the head tube, steering would be very twitchy.
|
I think it's so that they can have straight forks with rake. Straight forks are reminiscent of a track bike and therefore cooler, but they also give quick handling which is non ideal for the road use that a langster gets. This is a kind of compromise between fashion and handling, much like the fixed gear but compact geometry. As for why they're flared I don't know. You gonna take the rear brake off?
