jitensha: 5'5" ish. you still could buy it from me if you want it. apparently trey gannon was a pretty good rider...i wonder if he'd want this bike back...or if the EDC superdrome would want it for like, posterity or something...

i'm taking it apart right now again. i just put the parts from the lotus on it to take a picture for bikeforums, because it's black, and i like black...but i like pink more, so now i take the 30 minutes to switch all the parts over again.

the chain slack thing is something that i could take care of if i didn't have 26mm tires on those wheels (the chainstays are like, .5mm away from the tire, so not much wiggle room to get proper tension. that's an old crusty chain anyway. i rode it around the block and it sounded like i had a buzzsaw in my drivetrain. the rear wheel with a 20mm tire can get MIGHTY close to the seat tube. and it makes it feel a lot better, but still...the top tube remains the big downer about this frame.

As I remember, you'd have to be 6'3" with 4 foot arms and 18" legs to fit in that thing...

which begs the question: was this trey gannon guy some sort of orangutan?

speaking of black bikes, heres my new (to me) 2003 monocog. I bought it from some poor soul who had "too many bikes". I've been commuting 5 miles each way with it and its a blast.

I'm still lusting for a black fixed gear... those Soma and Iro frames look tasty =]

Chrome never looked so good. Cool stem.

Schiek 04-08-04 03:57 PM

shiny! Really like the stem and bars. Are you riding the Bianchi on the Lifecycle?

Yeah, but they're making me put a brake (or break for some of you lame-o's) on her. I'm just gonna get a time trial lever, stick it in the end and throw a spare brake on the front. That way I won't even have to unwrap the grip tape.

Here's what Greg from www.OldSkoolTrack.com (you should check it out) wrote:

I just got a picture from Torrin, writing from I don't know where. He
sent a pic of his new-skool Bianchi and one of the stem. Hands-down,
it's the coolest threadless stem I've ever seen. It will be up in the
stem gallery in the next few days.

That gave me a warm-fuzzy. It makes chugging a pitcher of Chrome Kool-Aid worth it

You should consider using a bar end shifter as a brake. I know Arsbars did this on the Bianchi Pista she posted somewhere on BF. It looks real clean. I think she used shifter cable and housing and set the bar end to friction. Evidently, it works like a charm.

I'm not sure the shifter would be long enough...it seems that you wouldn't have any LEVERage! hehe :D

Don't know. Never tried it, but it looks purty...

Hmmmm... probably not, but it's for charity, so I'm not gonna get too pissy about it. However, if it was a cop telling me to get a brake.......

I get in the drops for big climbs and drafting cars. It did mess up the flow of my stroke a little bit, so I lowered the seat by about 3/4" and it's fine now.

TimArchy 04-12-04 07:56 AM

Those IRO bikes look good not matter how they're set up.

commuteORdie: Is that tape or a paint job on the frame?

Here's a few updated pictures of my Kogswell. It's a F54 frame running a Kogswell hubs, Brooks Champion Flyer saddle, Tektro brakes, 105 levers and a whole bunch of other generic stuff. I'm runnin 42/16 and this coming weekend, April 17-18, I'll be riding it in the Houston-Austin MS150. Should be a really good time.

Here are some pics of my newest creation. You know you have a problem when you can build an entire bike from parts in your closet, and the only reason you built it is so you could finally use some funky old brake levers.

p.s. thanks to OneTinSloth for the sharp eye in the used parts bin for the brake levers.
