"The 'reverse-keirin-grips' are funky!"

I like 'em...I figure my hands are up top most of the time, so why put the grips down below?

also, I guess I could have just wrapped the bars all the way, but I did 'em that way for two reasons:

1. I like chrome, but I can't handle not having any grip at all....this way I get both.

2. I only had one roll of that tape, so doing the bars all the way wasn't a possibility.

OneTinSloth 05-30-04 01:16 AM

try doing that with those soyo grips some time...it's not very fun...

Oh, I meant that as a compliment. I think that your bike should be built for you and noone else. If you like it, swing it!

digdug 05-30-04 03:36 AM

oh no , I didn't take it as a diss or anything...I figured that's what you meant. :)

Oh, that's too bad... I was looking for a fight...

I guess I'll have to bait Schiek into a poseur/non-poseur debate again, oh well...

It's been awhile and she looks a bit different now so I'd thought I'd post another picture. New Vetta seat that I pulled from a dumpster bike and an old Cinelli stem I grabbed for $10 when the other one broke. And tape! Reflective tape!

Nice blue.

But reflective tape? Did your mom make you put that on for when you ride at nighty time?

I hate to agree with the (recently) angsty skitbra, but I like it too...

No, silly. I ride a lot at night so I used reflective tape and there is also a rear blinky on there. I'm old enough to be aware of my mortality and am going to do whatever it takes to be safe as possible. If I ride at night I want to be seen, and I ride at night. If it were a Cinelli or something like that I would keep it clean and just use it for daytime fun but this is just an old Raleigh so I don't feel bad if it's ugly. That is a nice blue isn't it? A friend color-matched it for me out of a magazine.

This is the Van Dessel. I'll have pictures of the other three fixies another day.

This was on it's first group ride.

That some sort of cannon launcher on the handlebars?

after about a week of riding, I would give them a thumbs up. Both the side and forward positions are very comfortable.
Been riding it to work on a combination of easy dirt trails and streets, and they work great for that. Need some fenders, though.

Here is a picture of my newest bike...

Well not really new, I just tore it down from its broken state and fixed it.

The frame is a Mid 80's Miyata 912, double butted croMo, althought the fork says 1024?? Is there a difference?

Parts are
  • new suzue promax/ma3
  • profile airstryke (sp) yellow cinelli tape
  • Selle Italia XO saddle (notice the yellow styling)
  • Yellow nashbar random SPD pedals
  • SR stem
  • 600 headset
  • 600 caliper
  • diacomp lever
  • bontrager racelite hard case triple puncture resistant tires 28 rear, 23 front (these I like)
  • Boring UN... BB (shimano)
  • Soma 16t cog Dura-Ace lockring

Almost forgot to mention, I have a set of Yellow tires which are going to be put into play here soon, at which time the bontragers will migrate to the Phil Wood/Open Pro wheels I am having my LBS build up.
