Awesome :) What kind of cantis are going on?

Well, I've got a set of red Radius cantis hanging around the house. I'm thinking those and some yellow tufos could make quite a Mondrian monstrosity out of the poor bike.

..or I might bite the bullet and pick up a new set of shimano br-550s.

tektro oryx cantis are great. i don't hear them praised often, but they're cheap, nice, and a breeze to set up. they have that lovely v-brake style ball joint.

I've heard that, but I tend to stick with things that I know work, once I find them. For cantis, that usually means avid shorties, but now that I've had good luck with the shimanos, they're an option too.

I believe that tektro's capable of making good products, but their lower level v-brakes and cantis really haven't endeared them to me.

Of course, this bike really deserves a pair of mafacs. Maybe I'll see if I can wheedle a set out of my friend.

so i finally got access to a digital camera, so here is my newest steed. i must stress this is a temporary build, but it gets the job done...about half the parts came off my conversion, other half were laying around. i will be building it "proper" over this winter, replacing parts as i can afford them. plans include sugino 75's, Promaxs or Miches laced to deep-v's or campy omegas, and, thickness permitting in the steer tube, threading the steer tube to go to quill. that or trading/selling for a threaded track fork. visually i just don't prefer threadless, and this steer tube has been cut too short for me anyway, hence the rise stem on there, with still a decent drop...

what's the headbadge of? I was under the impression that the Bare Knuckle's didn't have any logos at all. Also how you likin the Knuckle? I've been wanting to get one but budgetary concerns have kept me outta the market for a while, but my will power is starting to weaken. Cheers.

The conversion is up on ebay, while the Soma patiently waits for wheels to make it whole.

The headbadge on the bareknuckle is off of an old wrecked Falcon Track frame. My friend Chris Stelloh (who i bought this frame off of) was working at City Bikes in DC, and i guess the owner of CB had this badge laying around, and chris kept bugging him for it. he got it and attached it to this frame, but it sure has confused people that have checked the bike out since I started riding it. Anyway, i'm really enjoying this bike. it is stiff but comfortable, i'm just itching now to get it done the way i want it, but i'm short on scrilla. ahhh patience sucks.
i know it has been discussed before, but these frames do feel much larger than their advertised seattube measurements. Chris sold this bike because it was too big, and he's 5'10". i'm 6'1" and this feels right. top tube is definitely longer than 56...

That setup screams (whispers?) for a British Racing Green Brooks swift saddle, and other classy compliments in choice of rims and lace pattern. Spot on selection so far, in my book. :D Cheers!

Yeah I'm really fond of the green as well I was very pleased I was able to find one in new condition.

I't's been sitting on my desk collecting parts for a while. it's still a long way from finished. but I took some pictures for my dad tonight, so I thought I'd share.

I was thinking the same thing myself about the green Brooks swift. They are a bit pricey, but it would look oh so nice! Wheels will probably be MA3s laced 3 cross, and I'm hoping to find a nice matching Miche 32h for the front hub. Going for Green, black and Silver color scheme.

Dude just grab a green b17. I got one for under 50 bucks. Chop it and pretend like you gotta swift.

If I can find one for under $5o I probably will. Right now there don'e seem to be any great deals on B-17s

I think this frame was built by Dave Tesch for Steve Hegg time ago. The tubing is American made True Temper that has been custom drawn to Tesch's specifications with outer dimensions of 28.6mm in diameter near the head tube and top of the seat tube which increases in size to 31.8mm as it goes towards the bottom bracket.

That Tesch is a beautiful bike.

How do you like the steep gearing ? I'm using a 52x15 setup and I like it alot so far... I don't know why most people use the 48 < x Gearing because the rpms must be silly high unless they just take it easy all the time.. ???

Maybe its just all these flat roads that have me confused ! LOL

I like my knees. Even with an unnatural amount of hyperextension in the left, and ACL reconstruction in the right. I still like them.
