Man, it's rainy out. I thought I saw a break in the rain, so I went for a quick spin + breakfast. While eating, it started pissing down rain on me again. Luckily, I was wearing tons of wool. However, I had to stop off at a shop and pick up a clip-on rear fender to defeat the dreaded ass-stripe.

Here's a picture of the atrocity I have wrought (thanks and apologies to gravityhurts) :

I don't want to put the cart before the horse.. but if people are having issues with photo hosting, I should have a nice tidy solution for you all in a week's time. Stay tuned because I'll need a few volunteers to put the site through its paces.

I think that fender belongs to the Batman motorcycle. "Quick! To the Bat Cave!"

happy friday everyone.

just finished Blanca last nite. installing the BB & cranks myself was a great feeling. everything else went very smoothly. big thanks to everyone on the list who offered assistance and aesthetic advice during this build.

details: late 60's Carlton Track (grasstrack?) Reynold 531, IRO/Velocity fusions, Contis, DA 165s, a French chainring that i can't remember the name of, eggbeaters, $10 chain, Nitto jag & B123, tange headset, kalloy post, Italia Flite saddle, frame protector is rubber tape from the hardware store.

she is so so fun. more pics on flickr

I get to be the first person to say WOW. Japanese blood, English heart. Looks as good as expected.

Edit: How's the drop stem feeling?

awesome. not a dramatic change in feeling with my hands on top.. but in the drops it feels super low and super fast. the handling is very responsive.

i like mine.. they were both lucky finds (one from Working Bikes in chi,
one off ebay). didn't know much about them before... but i've heard
some great history from old-timers and other folks.

i'm not trying to be a collector, like this guy.

Thank you, sashae. Cantis and cross tires are going on fairly soon, when I get around to picking up some straddle cables.

I should probably trim that housing, too..
