Here's my first conversion.
Raleigh Competition '82. The frame is pretty nice 531 w/suntour dropouts. I might repaint. I'm not sure if a like the miami vice scheme. |

your seat is lower than your stem! don't see that too often. did you repaint that?
|
Thanks I originally had a yellow and orange thing going but my Ronald McDonald complex got the best of me
I did have it powder coated. That stem had a ton more drop then my last one and I really liked where my bars where positioned before so that is where it ended up. |

Rattle can with lotsa prep time. Also ground off mounts for shifty bits and added cables stops on frame for rear brake along with rear brake v mounts. Had caliper style stamped steel brakes to start with. YUK!!
Used to look like this after the first conversion.Bike pic |

My junk yard Azuki 58cent frame and parts from the parts box. So far just using center gear of 5 speed free wheel and cut off large chainring. Shortened handlebar 2 1/2 inches each side and used Grip shift grips with front brake only. Rode it yesterday and it was fun, climbed very steep streets fairly easily and brake worked well. I can see the appeal for single speed bikes, I am 61 years old and this is fun.

Excellent! Having fun is what this is all about.
