I second that: the paint looks great. More pics, please.

because deep down inside we all wish we were in SF.

...haha, no. I won mine in a skid comp and it's way better than having one of those $40 ****ing kashimax protectors. it's also nice for locking up, and most importantly, it serves as a great bad if I ever have to "get on my knees" at a moments notice.

crazyjohnson 02-13-06 12:59 PM

Seriously. There is a lot of money being thrown around here these days!

they work well for me and cost $25 a piece, not bad

That's some funky geometry/tubes...looks like a MTB...

trons 02-13-06 02:14 PM

Hey, I'm on that last page too. My bike is more rust than not-rust.

Matthew A Brown 02-13-06 02:40 PM

(feigns indignance)

Chicago has dropped so much money in the past month, it's ridiculous. I'd hazard 75% of people I know treated themselves to at least one pretty big purchase.

That first semi-warm day in March, though, it's going to be beautiful; you won't be able to go a mile without seeing some kinda fresh Jackson, Paramount, or one of many keirins.

My Samson WILL be sporting the $40 Kashimax tube protector proudly.

i briefly considered the top tube pad but went with the kashimax. after seeing the pics of your frames, i'm glad i did. not knocking your bikes, which are hot, but i like the sleeker look with the kashimax

chicagoamdream 02-13-06 02:50 PM

Yeah, don't get me wrong...I've got a tube pad, and it has its place (ie, TDC Stairmaster).

I just finished building & assembling my newest rig: Custom Rock Lobster, 165 DA cranks ring and cog, 32H DA high flange hubs on Open Pros, Thompson Seatpost, Pave saddle, Deda Bar, (Easton Stem is temporary until I get the length and drop figured out).

It handles like a dream on the street...I can't wait to get it on the track.

juvi-kyle 02-13-06 03:11 PM

JOSH the Bomber Pro is FAB, to bad you are slow. Just if you would get a Nitto 65 seatpost to match the pearl(if that is a pearl) it would be the best. Great build, I want to ride it.

TimArchy 02-13-06 04:17 PM

Hey AdamKell, I'm no longer jealous of your bike. If you'd bothered to make your way up to atlanta for the Broken Hearts race, you'd have seen why.
The yamaguchi looks hot in white though. And I know it will still fit me.

i'll get a pic up of my new ride soon. Can you say "70's Italian chrome"?

crazyjohnson 02-13-06 04:46 PM

Chicago, pm me and I can let you know where you can drop off your old rides ;). Btw, I ride a 57. Ha! Looks like the Chi swap meet is going to be huge due to everyones new toys.

Absntr, that frame looks gorgeous. I'm officially jealous.

you are most welcome to throw this steel around, but will have to wait until I am permanently closer.

I just use what I have. And if it works soundly, why change it?

eddiebrannan 02-13-06 05:22 PM

intersted to know why the drilling though absntr. none of your other bikes have brakes

everyone saw this frame on eframebank. In my opinion one of the coolest paintjobs on the site! Looking forward to seeing it built up.

did that frame get the soot treatment? like base coat of color and then soot from an acetylene torch laid over the frame and then a candy coat? thats what it looks like.

I'm keeping this frame for a while. I'm leaving it in the practical arena -- since it's a grass track racing frame that'll accept larger tire sizes I'm leaving it open to the use for cyclocross and since I may be gearing up for RAGBRAI, I may want to run a brake -- this is the long-haul ride/daily rider. Adaptable is how I wanted it. Do not fret, come March, I'll make it up by posting the non-drilled frame.
