and the white bike is an early 60's sears free spirit ted williams 10spd townie which I turned to a mono in the spirit of my grandfather whose bike it was "I don't know why they had to muck up a good bike with all these gears and such" LB my grandad

well enjoy

and I in no way have any affiliation with bikes direct I am just a broke college kid in sacramento ca

You do however seem to be affiliated with postmodern grammar. Noige...

Likewise to you Ceya, great to see you posting. The world is back on axis as a result.

I bring up the Anchor out of pure sweet love for it. :)

Sportymama i think on ebay said she had a limited run of green ones last time I heard she still had 57cm in green

the way I figure it is at my size and weight this bike is just right because their is a chance I could break it so I went with a cheapy for my first

joelv 05-28-06 03:42 PM

Compared to the fixie pics on this thread, my"beater" ss looks positively busy, but I wanted to post some pictures of the progress. Thank you to everyone who gave advice on making it look "cleaner"! The bullhorns and cross levers really helped.

I met a bike mechanic in Huntington Beach who sold me his Spinergy front wheel (700C w/yellow spokes and carbon hub) for $40.00! The front end of the bike doesn't look quite so beater-ish anymore! And even though I started this with the idea that I would keep costs down, I kinda want a matching rear wheel.

what shop in huntington beach? All the shops I've been to there have been a bust...

Wtf beater has carbon hubs.

lol, looks good side by side 128.
Actually, it's a purple, but in the flourscent lights it looks red.
Sadly, I am seriously thinking about selling it, thus I am dragging my feet on finishing the build.
I am not sure if it is worth more to the NJS zealots in pieces, or complete. I didn't do Araya B's, instead
I did Mavic CXP 33's, so the purist would ding me for that , but evreything else is NJS ..top to bottom NJS.
The pedals are Superbe Pro NJS , though.

I'll give you first dib's on the pedals, I'm coming home to Bernal Heights in September for a few weeks, Its probably going to return to my garage on Eugenia Street. I dunno why I brought it to London, but I suppose I should ride it on a Velodrome while I am here. I wanna race ImOnCrank's Witcomb before he leaves, he would dust me on my B'Jackson, but I * might * have a fighting chance on the 3Rensho
