Here's my beauty coming along quite nicely... Carbon Stem is next then I'm 100% done... Unless I paint it. |
bummer you had to change the seatpost, how you liking the brooks so far?
edit: oh yeah, nice bike. |
the brooks made me want to cry at first, but with each pedal stroke i can seriously feel it breaking in.
I just sold my seat post to my friend. i bought another carbon fiber one, but i do miss that blade :( I probably would have been able to get away with it if i had a 52cm frame! |

60cm mercier. i know what you're thinking, 'but rustang, i thought the decals were under the clear coat?' you're right, they were. but if you take a knife or other piece of flat metal you can pretty much scrape them right off. sure you might go through the paint to the metal on occasion, but those little white and silver specs just add to the character. besides, it's going to be painted as soon as i get done being lazy. green electrical tape tube protectors are custom of course. ITM stem bought 'returned' from nashbar for $16, not a scratch on it. holler for savings. mavic cxp 22's, formula hubs 'rustang, i had no idea that they made 22's in all black.' they don't, but they make rustoleum in all black. been riding them for a month now, holding up fine. no chips, no flaking. terry fly titanium saddle cause saving weight is super important to me. so is having a saddle worth nearly as much as my frame. i think it contrasts the wheels nicely. dans universal 46t chainring after i got the terry fly, the bike felt a little too light, so i decided to make up for it by getting this big ass thing. mostly round and only $11, sweet. stock truvativ cranks/bb there's really nothing to say about these. i'm sure some people think they're heavy and feel like 'wet noodles' but i think they go in a circle and make me move forward, so i've got no complaints. i might get a sharpie and add a 'njs' logo. infact, i might do that to all my components. actually, change 'might' to 'just did'. be jealous. kmc chain if only i could find a green one, i'd put it on then decide it was too 'matchy' so i'd take it off and put this one back on. you guys would never know that though. flip and chop bars i did these with a hacksaw and a lot of tender loving care. they feel like wet noodles, i think i need some new ones. or maybe i need to be less of a hulking masculine powerhouse. ritchey headset i don't actually have this headset, i have the stock piece of isht that the bike came with, but since i have to retighten it about every 11 minutes, i'm gonna get a ritchey next week. i was going to do it today, but i decided to spend an hour making this post instead. ok, i think thats all i've got. i hope this makes up for my constant sarcasm and snappy comments. i just want this to be the best internet bike community in the world. this is my contribution. |

thanks; yes it's a "conversion." but remember that when that bike was built, it was built for a fixed wheel (no der. hangar, no braze ons except for pump pegs and lamp bracket). so yeah, it's not a "track" bike, but no it's not a roadie conversion necessarily either. and i think that's why it's such a joy to ride around, the geometry really is just peachy.

winter street monster/commuter built from the fun bits in my closet. |
Can I borrow your closet sometime? Very nice.
|
yo adam i dont have any pics. you have that camera, we should take some
|
128: that is a beautiful picture and bicycle. Could you post some close-ups?
|
cynikal - all the spare stuff in my closet is waiting for my stan miles to be repaired and my spare wheelset for when I have to reglue my wheels. i just sold most everything im not using. *siiigh*
delicious - i dont have any close ups (or time to take them today, got to be at the dentists in an hour, blah!) but here is a high resolution picture. the only thing really unusual about it is the 80s paintjob and the wheels. everything else is pretty standard. |
I freakin love the way rossin paints their frames!!!
|
Nice bike 128, but what's with the snowflake on the rear hub?
|
someday i'll have a set of crane creek hubs. those things are awesome.

thanks for the complements. they are chronos hubs, not cane creeks. cane creek bought the design from chronos as i understand it. ive never seen another pair of these, to be honest. |
