Sasha!

One day my money and one of your frames will arrive on the exact same night. Then it's on!

Here's the steel fixed Soma's, next to the carbon geared full-banger mountain bike.

Side view. You can see the frame is a bit small. Yes, I drew that stuff.
The white on the rims is reflective tape. It only shows up for car headlights and camera flashes and the like. Otherwise, it's practically invisible.

The dreaded BMX cranks that have been annoying me lately. Say buh-bye.

Love that view. Notice the wide handlebars and stealth setup. Significant changes coming...

I wish... :D No, I just take pictures at the "trailturkey post". The Bareknuckle and The Intense Uzzi VPX are mine. The Intense Tazer is my son's. All the others are bikes of my friends and people that want's me to take a picture of their bike at the pole. :)

BTW sasha, that Samson is killing it. Almost as nice as mine ;)

Have you considered geting a pitlock for the front? Peter White cycles carries them.

Well, the theory is... I can carry a single U lock to lock both wheels and the frame -- with a pitlock I'm relying on the pitlock mechanism to be strong enough that i could just lock the rear wheel and the frame. I dunno. I'm not likely to keep these wheels on the bike anyway, they just work out well for lockup purposes. I've still got the track axle in a box anyway ;)

Do you find yours twitchy handling at all? I haven't measured the geometry yet, but it feels like a steeper head angle than seat by a decent (1-1.5deg) margin.

They are really well made (thick thick thick) and light enough. I really like them.

NEVER! you heard me? NEVER!

Actually, if I can find a decent track frame for a good price, and an appropriate 80s campy group for free, I might consider converting it back to its original state, but for now, I just enjoy ridding it and it enjoys being ridden.

onetwentyeight 12-23-06 11:06 AM

haha. im not dissing it, i just think that thing makes a nice fixed gear, but would make an amazing road bike! modern road componentry performs better then the older stuff, even if it doesnt look as pretty.

Looks like a basso(or whatever) to me, not a "real" Pogliaghi...

Thanks, its an early 80s Pog, but its not a high end model like this one. Its pretty light and stiff though.

yeah, these later models weren't built by sante himself, but apparently he kept an eye on their design and production. besides, basso and rossin (the two companies who later acquired the brand) frames are nothing to sneeze at.

Hey non, my post came off as kind of snotty, didn't mean it like that. Just meant that the frame wasn't really rare, that's all. There is nothing wrong with the basso or rossin pogs, but they aren't as rare as the Sante made bikes.

The Pogliaghi name changed hands after Sante died and his shop closed, in 1983.
