The stays reflecting on the disc looks amazing. Its like you have a see-through glass wheel... But you'd have to polish that thing daily! It needs a campy shamal front rim with polished hubs and spokes though to be finished off.

You're right. Not for racing, but it would be a fun bike to ride around on.

pat dasein 02-22-07 10:15 PM

the angle doesn't make it fit or un-fit for racing.

cc700 02-22-07 10:22 PM

i kinda like that geometry... and a flip flop hub, for that price, is definitely an eyegrabber... but it's aluminum so i'd have to ride it to see how it feels.

still, $500 and it comes with brakes. pretty impressive. i think the cayne uno is the only thing that beats this in terms of price.

euphoria 02-22-07 10:23 PM

yeah, the cable stops would have to go but it's not bad looking at all

bonechilling 02-22-07 10:55 PM

To my eyes, the bike doesn't look much different from the
Omnium, which is a true track bike by all estimations. I'm
not saying the quality is as high as the Omnium, but the
geometry is similar.

kludge 02-22-07 11:18 PM

yaaayeeee it doesnt suck as much!!! yaaayeeee!!! fyi, anybody else see the repainted bowery's they have at montanovelo? they actually dont look like junk

huh? aren't all the stock fixies basically $500? The fact that this one comes with brakes wouldn't make me want to buy it. Especially because it's aluminum and looks like ass, plus cable-guides. Fuji, KHS, pista, even the rush hour or madison look nicer than that. And they all go on sale sooner or later. I've seen fuji tracks on sale for $350 (which is how much I paid for mine).

+giantisokay. There are a ton of good options, giant's is just looking slightly less crappy. And the brown is poop-a-riffic.

Its actually like a barf-green up close. I hate the color, but enjoy the ride.

We've had two people buy one: A 15 year old girl saying that her boyfriend rides one in St. Pete, so she wanted one. And an old man who has this amazing Paramount wanting one for his son. He used to be a track racer back in the 50's and 60's. Super awesome conversation (he even like my Piaggio Pista! :)).

jeac 02-23-07 08:06 AM

while the mirror disk wheel is a very cool concept and looks pretty crazy

its kind of dumb. and not to mention how distracting it would be to cars and other cyclists

Haha, I just got an image of cars gently nudging at the rear wheel, transfixed by it's shinyness like moths at a lightbulb.

This statement can't get any more false.

he means the angle of the sloping top tube on the (compact geometry) bowery, not the angle of the seat tube on the panasonic. and he's right. there are plenty of raceworthy compact geo bikes.
