really? I wasn't there but the only people I ever see pictures of with straps period are sprinters and almost all of them are on clipless or the fancy pd-7600s. As far as actually racing at non-world class levels they are quickly on thier way to extinction.

Traditional pedals just suck compared to the other options. If you do see anyone using them it is purely for the luddite factor.

The day you marry, all of this intimacy with your bikes is going to vanish, unfortunately.

Pshaw! I love Dutret just the way he is.

Relatedly, isn't the Tange frameset - relative to other full carbon track framesets - a relatively affordable option? I thought it sold for well under $1k? I could be totally wrong on this.

That Lotus is nice! Did you drill the rear for the fenders? I have some silver fenders that would look kickass on that bike. What is the story on it?

1100-1600 from what I can find. Still not a bad deal for those in the market for a stupid light frame if the reported weight 560g(1.23lbs) is to be believed.

Also the new 2207 has different dropouts on the fork.(and shaves off another 40g from the total weight)

Thanks Jet! i traded my roomate a too-small alum SS MTB for it. The lotus was too big for him. i didn't have to drill anything, cause it was already drilled for brakes. i just used plumber's clamps and some inner tube to mount the fender stays, and voila. the fenders just barely fit, but they don't rub at all. i'd love to put some hammertone honjos on it, but i'm afraid it would take some serious trickery, and i'd hate to lay down the dough only to find it can't happen.

some specs: Suntour Superbe Pro cranks/48T, Superbe Pro rear hub/18T, MA3's, generic frt Hub, Panaracer TServ 25c's, UN73, Nitto bars and stem, Kalloy post, maroon B17, Phil Wood pedals,SKS fenders

i love the bars. sooo fun.

Nm.

Love, love, love that Lotus. Anything with promenade bars gets my okay.

Hahaha... ha... ha... a 560 gram frameset... riiiiiiight...

(I'm guessing that's the fork weight).

onetwentyeight 02-26-07 04:33 PM

That fork weighs 370g, according to the tange site.

no thats the frame minus the fork. I did not say frameset. Doesn't really matter it's still just 10cents of plastic pressed into shape by slaves and not worth more then $20 or $30 bucks.

chrisj, that is seriously one of the best looking bikes I've ever seen. The whole build just works, and it looks like it's a blast to ride.

Definatly is a blast to ride. The 48x16 gear ratio is feeling pretty nice as well.

Sounds like trouble if you plan on skidding it.

No problems here. I normally ride 49x17 in NYC.

I didn't mean in terms of how hard it'd be to skid, I meant in terms of skid patches. 48x16 reduces down to 3 skid patches, vs. 17 skid patches for 49x17.

wrong, 48/16=1 skid patch
You divide the numbers for pedal rotations, not for skid patches.
