to clarify...it's the denominator when you reduce it. ie, 48/16 reduces to 3/1. so you have one skid patch. so like you were saying, a ratio that you can't reduce more, such as 49/17, has 17 potential patches. thank you sheldon brown...

all right! another skid patch debate in the makings.
I taught a lesson about skid patches in the 6th grade Atlanta Public School math class I was teaching. By the end of the 50 minutes I could give the kids any ratio and they could tell me how many skid patches there would be. There have been at least three long threads on the topic in here and people still don't get it. |

the lightest compact road frame that is rideable is a hair under 700g. that'd weigh up over the kilo mark for the frame, probably around 1300g. But it would have been produced for maybe $50USD. |
…are you running a DA 10 pitch setup for a standard threaded hub? ...and is that a shimmed cinelli stem? |
I have a 16 tooth 10 pitch cog which threads onto normal lockring threading. And yes its a shimmed cinelli stem.

http://velospace.org/node/1645 when it's nice out. You've got a sweet ride. |
Wow!
Vey nice indeed! I would like to see this with drops, risers just don't do it justice. Is your fork crown marked by the Eddy Merckx logo?
Cheers

56TT, 58 seattube. 74.5 head angle/74 seat angle, 30mm rake. reynolds 631/725 (stays) dura ace/open pro 36H cinelli 10cm stem with 3T pista bars. miche cranks 172.5, 52/19, lots of skid patches. it's a stiff ride. tried to get an old campy crank to work but the clearances just aren't working out for me...the cranks are the only thing that might change. |
piwonka, i won't tell you not to, but i don't see a need to change from miche cranks, unless you've got a bunch of other chainrings that aren't 135 that you want to use. your bike looks great, by the way. hope you're loving it.

piwonka.. i love it!
nice paint. |

rear tire is a vredestein that you can get at nashbar for $10..
the front is vittoria pro-team that i found at a bike shop for $7.50...i've tried to find more of that one but had no luck...discontinued maybe...they're both clincher. the Miche are long and have a tight spot in the chain...i got a good deal for them used. |
