People love those ***ing Concepts....it's like a disease. Transmitted by rough lovemaking.

djembob02 12-06-06 01:27 AM

Keep the pink! I just painted mine and I love it. I've been riding fixed for a while but I've recently made some changes. I would love to have that pepto bismul frame posted above.

My only other bike: (not fixed, but just as fun). This was taken during the Bike Across Kansas this last June.

Me: (fixed, but still working great)

Haha. what's with the headsets?

djembob02 12-06-06 01:56 AM

The headsets (if you are referring to the microphone not the hardware between the fork and frame) are called a tandem talk. They essentially relay each others voices back and forth. On the tandem it is very hard for the front person to hear the back person. Additionally, the little one talks super quiet anyway. With the headsets, we can talk at a normal volume and hear each other very well. For us cycling together is all about the conversation.

An added plus is that we can also plug an mp3 player into it so that we can all listen to music during a long ride. Its a lot of fun!!

kyle! 12-06-06 02:04 AM

that triple tandem is crazy town.

I would start a family and adopt a midget just to get that action....the midget would never grow too big to ruin the mid-stoker love.

Awesome life, dude.

kyle! 12-06-06 02:20 AM

or you could just give it to these guys....

Actually, as the middle stoker grows, her cranks will be lowered. Then when she is tall enough, the kid cranks will be removed completely and I will simply take her pedals off and put them on the regular short (145mm) cranks. Then eventually I will have to replace them with 165 or 170's. This kid crank setup can be put on nearly any tandem allowing for children as young as 2 to ride.

kyle! 12-06-06 02:39 AM

ok, but i'd still like to see the geto boys ride it, no offense.

dissemination 12-06-06 03:42 AM

Whoa, are her feet really that big? Or is it just an optical illusion? Sweet bike.

djembob02 12-06-06 04:25 AM

Haha, Wow, I'm surprised they stand out that much, I wouldn't have thought the big shoes would be noticed that quickly. Yes the shoes are big, but her feet are not. Her feet at that time were a child's 8 (I don't know the metric equivalent probably a 28 or something) and she was wearing the smallest cycling shoe I could find, size 33. Her feet are now a little bigger and I have found some nice 32's. In both cases, the shoe actually held her foot fine, just looked awkward. Her feet are so much more secure than they were in clips/straps. In case anyone's wondering, yes, she uses clipless pedals (eggbeaters) just like her daddy. Mommy uses frogs.

Its kind of funny how I meant to be posting my fixed gear and now I'm talking all about my tandem (which can be found on the tandem forum). I don't mind. Any chance to talk about the tandem and brag about my family is a plus. Another side note, we have only had the triplet for just over a year and we've put 3,000 miles on. We did the Bike Across Kansas and the local MS 150. Its fantastic. It is also often riden with only the front two riders. Before I put together my single bike, I even rode it by myself a number of times.

As far as fixed gear riding goes. I love riding the fixed. I actually borrowed a geared bike because I was thinking about road racing (no velodrome in the area). It was fun but I just don't have enough time or money. Therefor, I gave the gears back and pulled the fixed back out. I can track stand but I can't skid yet. Its just so much fun to ride. I also love the feeling of staying with the racing group when they have 27 gears and I only have one. In my city, fixed gear riding is an oddity and as you can probably tell, I enjoy being the weird one.

LóFarkas 12-06-06 05:44 AM

Riding clipless at age 4 = best thing ever. Plus she gets to escape the "fell over in public because I'm new to clipless" experience. Dad keeps her upright:)

That Triple Tandem is I think the cutest thing I've ever seen on BikeForums. All you guys need is a kitten in each jersey pocket to up the ante.

shapelike 12-06-06 07:26 AM

Oh my god ... that's so ... cute.

*explodes*

That tandem makes my heart melt.

Jacob: Hells yea. Nice bike dude. If I ever come to Texas, we can ride in style.

On the note of Concepts with white saddles, I got a new one:

It is like night and day in comfort compared to my other saddle. This thing rocks... mostly because it was free.

Accident 12-06-06 11:50 AM

DoshKel 12-06-06 11:59 AM

Dude send me some. Please.

DoshKel,

Everytime you post a shot of that Concept, you make my heart swoon just a little bit louder. Very nice.
