^^^ are you serious? why not just stick a brake on it, or suicide hub it w/ a ton of locktite? a brakeless freewheel roadbike makes NO sense to me at all. it seems like any sort of reasonably fast speed would make it sketchy as hell to stop that way. If your going to ride brakeless, use the right equipment. On my old ss freewheel, the brakes would completly stop working when the (steel) rims got wet, so I had to do that (footbrake). Once I was riding down a long, steep hill and it started raining hard. the footbraking bull**** barely was slowing me down, I had to plant my foot down and ditch the bike, sliding it out from under me. I ended up smacking my head pretty hard on the pavement. luckily there were not any cars around. It was the most terrifying bike experience i have ever had, hands down- worse than going over the hood of a truck or getting sideswiped by a car and knocked across one of the busiest streets in town.

An ENO converted 2002 Cannondale R3000si.
My first bike build.
My first wheel lacing.
The DC Pirates helped a whole lot, especially to poopncow for many nights at his place wrenching and some borrowed parts while things trickled in via UPS.
A slew of online LBS's: E-bay, TheBikeBiz, Universal Cycles, Bikeman Network, Niagara Bike Works, and even Performance bikes for parts.
And City Bikes who helped me find random **** all the time that I didn't have.

that's pretty sweet but it would look so much cooler without the logos! nice job.

yup, its fixed, 48x17 and a flip-flop 18free, but haven't used the ss yet.
the tires are vredestein fortezza tricomp, I looked EVERYWHERE to find them.

i agree with the decals, is pretty over the top, maybe cause it looks like a nascar it also looks fast.
or it could be the orange ... adds +5mph just standing still!

pirate 12-06-06 11:21 PM

those tires are sweet

apparently you guys dont realize the amount of control you can still achieve brakeless...
this is only temporary so pull your panties out of your spandex and relax.

for all of you concerned about brakelss control.... oberve, brakeless & with a freecoaster (bike rolls backwards without engaging the cranks) I rode like this for almost a year. ive applied it to a larger bike, not that hard...

baxtefer 12-06-06 11:35 PM

you obviously don't travel faster than 5 MPH

sbcdestroy 12-06-06 11:38 PM

I do, frequently.

...to be stupid. I agree.

Stop trying to be tough, and get a brake or a fixed wheel. What's the point? You can buy a brake for $15.00 or get one free at the Co-Op.

You sound pretty ridiculous buddy....It's not about BMX tricks, it's about real world riding, and the real dangers that come with it.

sbcdestroy 12-06-06 11:49 PM

I'm not trying to be tough. thats funny...

like i said it's only temp untill I can get a fixed hub ( 3 days now )

so relax.

What's the point of you guys getting THIS worked up? you guys need to relax. way too uptight.

number18 12-07-06 12:16 AM

Ha!

sbcdestroy 12-07-06 12:19 AM

I'm not really riding it much at all untill I get the fixed hub... I just ride it around the block to make sure it was mechanically sound...

heroblast 12-07-06 12:50 AM

oh we're no worried about you, just the safety of other cyclists on the road, that supply themselves with some apropriate means of braking power.
