I have those Avid disc brakes on my MTB ride; I'm really digging them.

How do you like those bars on the trails?

marqueemoon 03-07-07 12:52 AM

Pssssh, quit trying to gain attention on the internet by bringing your digicam into the LBS and claiming to own whatever hot bike is sitting near the doorway.

At least you can throw down your wallet, take it out for a test ride, and artistically place it against the brick wall of a local pho joint before your 20 minutes are up.

You may say after that "why would you use drops?" Well, the answer to that is because the forward shoulder position of a track drop is the best position of any bar ever.

So why have drops full stop?

We...I mean my LBS...allow(s) 30 days for a test sesh boiiii. You could probably take it back and forth across the state in that time (or across the country if you're one of them RAAM types). Granted you have to buy it before you take it out for that long, but some shops charge restocking fees and isht.

Haven't actually tried the dirt drops on the trails yet, but there's one guy who seems to swear by them and created an entire web page devoted to them. Makes sense to me...three different hand positions rather than one.

And I can't believe you guys have tile! So unfair. :)

bonechilling 03-07-07 06:25 AM

If I have a new bike to post, I would wait until the smoke clears
from 12XU's new ride, because the hottest bike is going to look
boring next to that Surly right now.

First post... Although i've lurked for years.

Domino, my IRO Angus - got one of the first orange framesets from Tony last year when they came out in March. It's been a year and this bike's been through a lot. Hit by 3 cars [2 of which were rear-enders] and been trashed on a regular basis on the streets of NYC.

Gearing's 46:15
Cranks are IRO, as is Chainring - switching out to Sugino 75s soon
Headset's stock
Izumi Gold Track chain
Pedals are off my old mountain bike
bargain bin stem
chopped nashbar risers [gettin swapped with gold simitra risers]
oury grips
Deep V non-machined rims to 4star Hubs [Bensbike formula hubs]
Vittoria Rubino on the rear and Maxxis Detonator on the front
Nitto Seatpost with Selle San Marco Rolls NOS saddle [White perforrations]

Comments: YES the bars are comfy and yes so is the saddle. I've found the steeper angle helps with bridge climbs and is just more comfortable.

'nuff of the boring stuff
