Yeah, I rode brakeless from the beginning. I ride in a small college beach town where everyone is realy used to bikes on the road. Bikes have the right of way always and cars know to give them it. Plus, its also really flat. I'm going to put a brake on when I go back home for the summer to be safe.

Well Dutret, I rode this one for a while with drops and the reversed levers you so hated; but I decided to change to bullhorns (kept the levers). Changed out the chainring from 42t to 44t, and shellaced the yellow cotton bar tape. I like it better this way, both looks and riding positions. I'm just too old and fat to stay in the drops for extended periods. Here's a current pic:

Its pretty fun riding brakeless, you might get used to it and no crave a brake.

Yeah I've been riding it for a few months now brakeless, I don't really want to go back but I might throw one one for emergency purposes.

i rode brakeless for over a year and put a brake on for a double century. i've kept forgetting to take it off, but i've also learned that there's no shame/inconvenience in having one.

still, if i took it off, i maintain i'd be just as safe as i am now. it's just that right now i don't have to exert as much muscle to be as safe. to put it in negative terms, the brake has made me lazy.

it's energy better spent going forward!

The wheels in the pictures were won from Cranked Magazine. Usually I ride Dura Ace 7600s laced to white Vs that Kalavinka built for me. New Arione saddle, seat bag I recently found at my father's, 3TTT stem to fit the nitto rb-009 TT bars that are a touch too wide (but couldn't find smaller). Got a flat on my first real ride on those tires today, so I switched them out this evening to Maxxis Re-Fuse which should be a bit tougher.

And no, the fork wasn't drilled when I got it. I paid for someone to do that :p

I tensioned the chain better after this picture so I don't kill myself with a dropped chain. White bar tape or not for the rest of the bar?

That is really impressive.

LóFarkas 05-29-07 12:28 AM

The Gan Well is hot.

What saddle is that?

Sin-A-Matic 05-29-07 12:58 AM

that gan well is one of the nicest builds I've seen in a while. I know you ride that thing on the streets with pink Phils laced to lime green Deep Vs though. It's too good to be true.

mikeburrito1 05-29-07 01:21 AM

54 top 52 seat; specialized toupe saddle...hurts wanna get into a white regal maybe
