They're good pedals, smooth bearings and good clearance, at least in my experience, but you can't get them new unless some shop has some NOS, because Shimano stopped making them. They show up on EBay alot, too. Strongly recommend the metal toeclips, (the ones I've seen on EBAY often come with a set of the metal) the plastic are prone to breaking and replacements are hard to find.

Oh yeah, and I dig that bike, too...

Here's my Bianchi. Approximately an '86 with Columbus tubing and a mix of Italian, Taiwanese, and American parts. She's been beat to hell and still rides quite nicely on the way to and from work everyday here in Sunny SoCal.

bostontrevor 03-06-05 01:57 PM

Sharp!

operator 03-06-05 02:09 PM

Mmmm Bianchi.

raygunner 03-06-05 03:42 PM

Finished.

Sweet Bianchi, what bars are those, raygunner?
Love the turtle bell.

Here's my fixed gear bike. It's a handmade 531 track frame by R. Cossey, made right here in New Zealand.
Most of the components are no-names, save for the Cinelli handlebars. I think the lugs on this are really cool, they're a little more straight - angled than most. I did a rough as guts paint job on them to highlight them. I've enjoyed riding fixed, it is a totally different experience to gears / coasting. It took me a little while to 'get' fixed, but once I did, it's been great fun.

Having said that, I'm selling this bike. I don't think fixed gear riding is paticularly practical in Auckland, and to be perfectly honest, I don't feel that safe on it. I've been over the handlebars once, and in a sudden stop situation, my first instinct is to slam on the brake without backpeddling. I know that with practise and time, I would get over this, but a friend of mine has just smashed up his leg in a traffic accident (admittedly on a scooter rather than a bike), and life is too short for that. Thanks to all those in the SS / FG forum who've given me inspiration to build this bike, and all the entertainment. :D

Really pretty lugs. I've never seen any like them. BTW, I'm going to be in Aukland in April, can you suggest cool bike shops to visit?

Thanks

Jim

I decided to build up my Colnago Fixie again. I had some thoughts on doing a restoration but this would be easier on my wallet and you can never go wrong with a fixed gear.
I hope the pics go through

I also have some pics of my SingleSpeed Stumpjumper :D

Wow, it's pretty hard to keep up with all of these pretty bikes. It seems the bar is raised with every post. Hope this doesn't disappoint ;-)

At the last Seattle bike swap meet, I scored a Boston Baked Bean Steamroller. The parts are from my gray Steamroller. Velocity Fusion rims, Vredestein Fortezza rubber, King headset, Sugin0 75 cranks, Profile Stoker bars with a Ritchie stem.....Oh and a Velosteel coaster brake .... of course. Sadly, the bar wrap doesn't go as well with the brown as it did with the gray ... it's such a pain to redo.

Brookyln, how many teeth are on that cog? and is that a Normandy hub?

prevail24 03-06-05 05:18 PM

Here is a link to the new single speed road bike I built yesterday. www.surlyrider.com/mysingle.htm
Dont mind the bad spelling on that page. It will be updated soon. If you own a surly, email me to add it to my site.

Shiznaz 03-06-05 05:20 PM

Haha that bike has an insanely tight wheelbase in that pic! Methinks you need to review your html image proportions on that page

prevail24 03-06-05 05:39 PM

that is def the case.

I think the cog is either a 16 or 17. I am not sure about the hub, but I believe it is a Rigda??

trackmaster 03-06-05 10:18 PM

Hey I used to have that setup; Brooks swift saddle with Miche post.

Auckland has loads of Bike Shops - my picks would be R&R Sport on Karangahape Road, then Cyco on Ponsonby Rd, and then Adventure Cycles on Customs St (who can also hire bikes out oif you're desperate for a ride).

Good luck, enjoy NZ :)

I got my frame back, brand new paint
..used to be red and rusty!

It's a 52cm Bianchi, I don't know how old but could be from the 80's.

operator 03-07-05 05:08 PM

Red huh, could be a campione.

BostonFixed 03-07-05 05:14 PM

Hey dude, what's that stuff in the background of the 3rd pic? ;)

emayex 03-07-05 05:18 PM
