WHOA, WAIT, HOL' UP, STOP!!!

Dude, that's an ol' skool Colnago time trial bike with a Campy C-Record Gruppo. For cyring out load, please but the cowhorn TT handlebars and C-Record brake levers back onto that thing, and donate it to the nearest museum of fine art. And don't even THINK of painting that bike...

SugarPILL 08-08-07 09:48 PM

Haha, i am going to finger paint it with latex matte wall paint...

abeabe 08-08-07 10:15 PM

im working on a similar project right now, unfortunately my frame pales in comparison to your gem in both make and quality, but i do have a vintage araya disc wheel for it.

I wanted a disc so bad, but as you can see, i ran out of money. i can't wait to see yours. I love the tt frames.

Please, do some research and put the right bars and brake levers on that. You should definitely try to do that up original. Change out the saddle maybe too.

EDIT: I just noticed you even have delta brakes. Do not, I repeat, do not convert that bike. I will have to come to where you live and kick you in the balls. Or I can come by and buy it off you to save it.

EDIT2: Are those Sherif Star Hubs? How much did you pay for that bike? You probably got it for a steal.

eMwolB 08-09-07 07:00 AM

I started a thread yesterday titled "To fix or not to Fix" in regards to my 80s Pinarello...it's nowhere as HOT as that Colnago and I was convinced NOT to convert.
Painting that bike would be a crime punishable by death in my opinion.

If you posted this in the road forum you'd get more flamed. I can see it now:
"Clips and straps? Who the f rides clips and straps? Those delta brakes won't stop you. Tubulars v. clinchers! Get carbon! You need white bar tape!......."

OK...name your price...that bike gives me wood! (I never thought those words would EVER come out of my mouth!) I would even consider parting with my Pinarello and $$ for it.

F*ck that, ride it the way you like it.

paulwwalters 08-09-07 08:25 AM

That's one f'ing gorgeous bike!

hiredgoons 08-09-07 09:21 AM

I agree; if I ever buy an off-the-shelf it will be a Paddy Wagon.

bonechilling 08-09-07 09:26 AM

Yeah, I think the Paddy Wagon is probably the most solid and practical of all the off-the-peg fixed gear bikes out there. Unlike many others, it is actually designed to be ridden, as opposed to displayed.

Cynikal 08-09-07 09:37 AM

Your mom called, she said it was ok to take off the reflectors. :)

Well, I do have some TT bars I was gonna try out.. but i like these for now..
as for the saddle, I met someone who has a black campagnolo pneumatic eletra saddle they want me to buy but I just don't have the money at the moment...

As for the c record group, it is not original to the frame, it actually had some sort of suntour derailleur system on it, the reason I know this was due to the bolt on friction shifter boss, it was a proprietary part that when moving the rear mech it would trim the front to prevent rubbing... anyway I wasn't really interested in putting suntour on it so I machined a new boss so I could use the c rec levers..... so I have been accumulating these c record parts for a long while, each part was in less than desirable condition when I got it due to the fact the well preserved c rec parts were out of my budget, but after what seems like years of polishing I think they look pretty swell. Had to drop down to 120 grit paper to get all the dings out... and ended with jewelers rouge.

So about the museum donation idea... FAT CHANCE!!!! bwhahahaha.

The guy who sold the frame to me lives in Italy and used to work at Mr. Colnagos shop. He had a sweet collection of frames, but I think he has sold them since... sad.

El twe, I actually sold a Pinnarello track to buy this frame... i miss it. but not regret it.

What is the big deal about the delta brakes? I think they are one of the least attractive brake calipers I have ever seen.

abeabe 08-09-07 09:56 AM

yeah yours is definitely more of a quality piece, I'm sort of going for post apocalyptic vintage TT with mine what with the ancient disc and probably whatever parts I can scrap together.

A) They're Campy
B) They're rare
C) Do you need another reason?

('Not saying that I buy this logic, but I believe that's how the thinking goes.)
