And apparently you believe moderators are above the rules.

Are his TT levers actually connected?

Trust me, moderators are not above the rules. We are held to the rules stronger than any other member. Just keep in mind, the mods have blue stars, not red ones. ;)

If only I were color blind I could use that as my excuse for not noticing the color.

Yes, they are. That is what makes cross levers cool, you can send a cable through one side and out the other.

Well put! Personally I would also need a 15mm wrench. To each his own.

Also I really 'hate' it when people use the word 'hate' in this context: 'Don't be hatin' on my tube socks' or 'Why you gotta hate on on my pink tennis racket tribute bike'. Didn't anyone teach you guys that 'hate' is a strong word? Gee whilakers.

But he doesn't have anything that is a 15mm bolt that I can see. I don't have anything 15mm on my bike either. Everything is 6mm, 5mm, or even 4mm Allen.

nateintokyo 10-02-07 09:32 AM

perhaps the pedals?

Danhalen 10-02-07 09:35 AM

Oh whoops. Let me rephrase what I said. Yeah what you said. And hopefully my hand will be strong enough to operate a quick release skewer. :D Know what I'm sayin'?

Alex Steezeman 10-02-07 10:02 AM

Hah, my soon to be fixed gear. Some old Huffy my friend had at his house, but I don't really care. Yeah, the back wheel is on backwards, I just threw it back on so I didn't mess up the back end.

The rarity of the pedals coming loose wouldn't justify having that wrench, IMO.

bexley 10-02-07 11:10 AM

Okay, this isn't MY photo, but I disagree with everyone who seems to think a single photo warrants a new thread:

Or is that probably a coaster brake? Either way, look at the muscles that guy has from mowing so much lawn!

Hell yeah he does.
I bet a stud like that mows lawn EVERY Saturday night.

I think he means that he'd change the pedals, not that they're going to pop off.

piwonka 10-02-07 11:50 AM

that chain tension is fine.

For some reason I thought those were allen in the back.

2 items...

re: anchor
that surly cog is awfully low-brow, given the rest of the bike.

re: mower bike
think it's mass-start legal? dude could clean up in a crit!

Yes, the two different brake levers are connected with one brake line. The cyclo-cross lever merely "pinches" in the middle of the line the TT levers are attached to. You can find the instructions on how to do it in "Zinn and The Art of Road Bike Maintenance".

it's a silly thing to be posting about (****, I should turn that into an acronym), but I would much rather take off pedals with a 15mm wrench than an allen key to end of the spindle.

and I get to use it on my wheels too. And it the other end of it works on my crank bolt. woo. what a lovely wrench.

okay, back to sleep for me.....

Retem 10-02-07 07:54 PM

the bike to bull **** ratio is off please fix this!!

Also, I've been meaning to ask about that pretty awesome guy you were hangin' with that had the ultimate "fixie pop culture told me these things were cool" bike. He made comments like "straps are completely pointless unless they're doubles" and "there's no way you're gonna like this gearing(I think it was 42x15)," And "Don't you know enough people to just get a group buy?." I didn't have the opportunity to speak to the Dali Jackass, but his words touched us all. Anyways, I'm sure he had a lot more wisdom to impart and I'd like to learn more. He also didn't take part in group rides because..."hahahhahaha." That was his 'Einstein' moment for me. I wonder what part of being awesome on his super sweet bike made him so damn fat; must have been big-boned.

3Lph 10-02-07 09:22 PM

Can't think of anyone I would hang with who has those opinions or views. Especially since I run single straps on ****ty pedals. I'm sorry that's what you took away from the firefly though, since those kids are anything but elitist.

I haven't even used doubles, but I do hear they are super nice. Can't afford that **** though.

edit: I saw lots of bikes I haven't seen around before that night though.

challoschott 10-02-07 09:32 PM

He was the only one like that. Everyone was else was cool and just had questions. That dude had opinions for everyone and their bikes. I hope the co-op works out.
