http://velospace.org/node/5728 This is my 06' Leader LD-735TR. Same Geo as the TT frame. I stripped the original blue paint and just left it bare aluminum with clear coat. It's like a 73.5 head tube with a 74 seat tube. But they have new Geo measurements for the new 08' model.

Some 1500/2000 grit sandpaper and some polish would do that frame nicely!
|
It's polished and clear coated what you see is S***ty lighting and my greasy hand from putting it together.
|
Haha, I thought so. It looked too clean to just be stripped but it is hard to shoot polished stuff, especially with a flash. Nice ride.
|
Yea tell me about it. Thanks

sweet bike i love the colours on it (the red with the blue is awsome)... but i thought radial laced wheel and a brake were a no-go? |
why is that?^

I luv hooters, how is the rim with the brake? I'm still contemplating putting a brake on my non machined deep v or finding a new wheel. Any paint rubbing off yet?

Instead of finding a new wheel, you could always order a new deep V and tie together the spokes, take off the nipples, put them spokes and hub to the new rim, replace the nipples, tension, and true.
|
i figured that because the the spokes went straight (as in not leaving the hub at an angle, and not crossing another spoke) from the hub to the rim, that when you apply pressure to the rim, the hub will rotate a bit applying loads of pressure to the spokes. and after this happens lots of time (like when you stop with low chain tension the cranks will move a little bit, before engaging), that you will run the risk of breaking the spokes/flanges. which would suck :D
but it sounds like im totally wrong, so ignore me. |
You'd still be putting a similar stress on the spokes if it were laced crossed. Besides, rim brakes aren't generally powerful enough (and bikes don't go fast enough,) to make it a problem. I think it's something about the hub's lower momentum as compared to the rim, but don't quote me.
It's generally agreed upon that you shouldn't use radial-laced wheels for disc brakes, or on both flanges of a rear wheel. Jobst Brandt says it's because though they do transfer torque, the hub has to "wind up," or essentially become a non-radial wheel, before it can do so. So the spokes and hubs would be unduly stressed on rear wheels and disc wheels. But anyway, I don't dabble in radial lacing. 3-cross in back, 2-cross up front on my road machine. |
I've used the same front wheel (Dura-Ace Hub radial laced to a deep V) on my single speed and my beater. The wheel has been in action for more than 3 years now with a brake and i have never had a problem with the rim, spokes, or hub. I repack every 3 months and true it when needed but I'm also 5'11" and 200lbs. I guess it all depends how the wheel was built and the quality of components and your riding style.

the brakes work fine on a nonmachined wheel. i've done this twice now - no problems. the paint doesnt go anywhere. yes, they don't brake on a dime in the rain, but they still help stop you. i only have a brake for emergencies i may use it only 1 time a day, the rest of the time i just skid. eventually i may remove the brake but i'm not quite there yet! until i am, i'll just be a dumb looking dude who skids while he has a brake (bikesnobnyc hates that).

This is an awful photo, but it's the only one I've got:

Very nice!

The big flashy logos go to you also also, huh? I'm in the midst of stripping the paint off of mine. What did u cover the logos with?? And whats your opinion on the powerstraps with a fixed?
|
|
I think its electrical tape.

hey kmike, what kind of chain is that?
