That's typical of "track" geometry, actually. Look at any keirin bike, and judge the clearance between the front wheel and the downtube - it's extremely narrow. The downtube is always going to be butted at almost the lowest possible point to allow clearance for 700c wheels. I'm not sure of the reason why, however.

i'm saying that the downtube clearance is too much, if anything. the headtube that's exposed between the top tube and downtube looks too short for a 54cm. my kilo's clearance is much tighter, and still has the same if not more headtube exposed inbetween the tt and dt, and my kilo's a 53.

crosswalkrider 11-10-07 09:52 AM

nah. just a few days

lemondzurich 11-10-07 10:00 AM

It's definitely a 54, the geometry is just different (some people think it's less cool) compared to the more track oriented Kilo. I got the messenger since it's really a commuter bike vs. a track bike. Plus, it came with brakes for the same price.

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. I was talking about the Kilo TT, when I said it was "typical of track geometry." The Messenger has the downtube butted much higher than your Kilo for MORE clearance, because it's more of a standard road bike, where things like fender clearance are important.

NY Hipster... sheeesh - at least my wheel is flipped to the proper side. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2199/...07a5e0ec_b.jpg

So proper weight distribution and greater comfort makes you slow?

Here's my bike, Specialized Langster London, hate away. It's my first fixed gear or road bike of any sort, I've always ridden bmx. I've been looking into them and once my mountain bike got stolen I thought this would be good to replace it. I had brakes on it when the stock bars where on it but I took them off when I put these bars/stem on it because the lever didn't fit and I don't have any others. It's not really that dangerous because I'm riding in the suburbs, in the "biggest non core city", aka Mesa. I don't really like the blue chain ring or the white chain, but it's not high on my list.

looking great, but i'd put a brake back on. the london looks better with stock drops.

the suburbs are dangerous because cars think they own the roads and go way fast everywhere without looking.

if someone hits you in the city you might die, for sure, but if someone hits you in the suburbs it's more likely you'll be hurt severely.

A Berretto time trial frame built by Brett Richardson in Brisbane, Aust. Everything is ovalised with a Shimano AX seatpost. Check out the fine front forks.

+1 on the suburbs being more hardcore than the city haha, we have to ride hills and **** with crazy soccer moms in H2's buzzing our elbows every few seconds/minutes.

Alex Steezeman 11-10-07 04:09 PM

Yeah, well wherever I ride there are always big bike lanes and hardly any cars, but I see what you're getting at. I'll see if I can ghetto rig a brake lever somehow.

bonechilling 11-10-07 04:12 PM

Hey Prolly, are you wearing a 66 North jacket in that photo? If so, we're jacket twins. We also both have tri-spoke front wheels, but mine's 700c.

Revolution Smmr 11-10-07 04:16 PM

Prolly: you might as well have posted that straight to the Jackass thread since I'm sure some smartass will eventually do it.

by the way... wheelie/barspin with your feet strapped in = balls.

cc700 11-10-07 04:17 PM

i didn't say **** about them being hardcore or not (they're not, citys have hills too), i said it's important to have a brake there. because people are ****ing stupid in the burbs and there's room for them to speed.

i want a pista concept! and my god that beretto is gorgeous.

See, I don't really care because I know how I look and what people probably think.

heh.

The wheelie, barspin, bunnyhop stall while clipped in is better...

hard to get it in a photo though.

Bonechilling, it's a Venture Rain Shell... I have had a few North Faces and the 66 is worth the money. Mine got ripped when I fell last winter though.

You dudes saying the suburbs are gullier than the city haven't spent enough time riding in the City. I rode a road bike in NC for years, Charlotte, Greensboro, ect. Never had a problem. You guys don't have gypsie cabs and yellow taxis trying to run you over, or coked-up weekend warriors raging around on Friday and Saturday nights.

Hell, we rode on 83 in Baltimore at the last Alleycat and people were stopping and allowing us to pass and exit without a problem. Also, I think in more suburban areas, you're more likely to command traffic. A stern finger point causes drivers to part like the red sea because they're not used to seeing it all the time. Here, they'd be like "f uck you" and clip your bars.

Just my $.02

cc700 11-10-07 04:51 PM

i guess i should have been clearer. all i said that you still need a brake in suburbs because cars are going faster. i said **** about suburbs being hard or gullier or anything.
