Installed MKS pedal setup, and NOW I feel like I'm on a machine!

Saddle, Wheels, Tires, Bar Grip are all in order.

I'll keep BF posted!

How do you like those bars? Is the front tire white?

Yeah my front tire is white :]. The bullhorns are wonderful for climbing hills but i haven't really tried any other bars excepts drops which I didn't like because I don't really ride low profile.

I didn't really like the drops that came with this bike so I flipped and chopped them. I'll probably pick up a new pair though.

Hey guys, a friend of mine is offering me a pretty good deal for a set of Sugino Messenger cranks. Silver, 46t, 165mm, for $80.

The only problem is that he isn't sure if the chainring is 1/8" or 3/32", but I run a 1/8" chain and cog, so running that with a 3/32" chainring wouldn't be a problem, right?

Would these cranks be a substantial upgrade from the stock Motobecane Track cranks? Would I need a new bottom bracket?

Thanks for the help!

You are right. Running 1/8" chains on 3/32" components is fine, just not the other way around. Messenger cranks are nice for middle of the line cranks, and $80 is a solid price if they're in good condition.

As far as the bottom bracket goes, search online for what spindle length and taper you need to get a proper chainline.

Thanks for the advice. Is there any way to tell whether the chainring is 1/8" or 3/32"? I'd rather have everything match.

Been lurking here for a week and have decided to buy the Moto Track in size 56cm. I'm 5'9" with a 31" inseam. I own an old 80's Schwinn LeTour that's a 54cm. I also own a 2006 Trek 1500 road bike that I got from the Trek Store brand new. The salesperson there measured me to a 56cm. It feels fine as I've ridden it alot since 06. My hands do get sore after a long ride. Will the Moto 56cm be ok? Also what's everyone's take on the Mink Blue color? Btw I tried comparing the Schwinn and Trek standover height and they feel very similar.

A 56cm might be a tad big. I'm 5'8" and I have a 52cm Motobecane Track. I believe I have long legs and a shorter torso, so your miles may vary. Maybe someone with more experience in sizing can chime in on the differences between road bikes and track bikes in terms of sizing (if there are any)?

I like the mink blue color. It was actually my last choice color, but I'm glad I went with it. It looks a lot better in real life than in the pictures. Plus, it's one of the more rare Motobecane Track colors (at least not too many people on this forum have one in mink blue). Here's mine:

It's close to the color of my Trek. I didn't know a track frame and a road frame were that much difference. Hmmm. I wonder if I can just go to my LBS and ask them to let me sit on a track bike?

I'm really excited about buying this bike. I just had my gf measure my inseam using the book between the legs method. She got a 30.5"-31". I looked at the moto website and it confuses me. My Trek is 56 and fits. Te Moto site says 52-54". Is it because it's a "track" frame? The specs for both Trek and Moto in a 56 are similar. Help please. I want to place my order Monday morning. If I got the 56 would it be uncontrollable even after some adjustments? I don't want to look strange on a little bike. I'm 220lbs!

Yes. Just double checked. I have a 100mm stem on it as well if that helps. I had a 90mm on there and probably should put it back on to relieve some of the sore hands.

Some of that sizing a track frame smaller is due to standover, which has no real meaning when on the bike.On trackframes the bottombracket is higher(usually ~2cm) to allow for clearance on the tracks bank,so the toptube is higher off the ground. If the trek fits fine, get which ever size moto has the closest toptube lenght.

Ok. I just saw the BD fitting says a 54" bike fits people 5'4" to 5'9" and the 56" fits 5'9" to 5'11". I think the 56" Moto top tube matches the Trek.

I ride a 52cm Motobecane Track, but it has a 54cm top tube (but a 52cm seat tube). Bike fitting should be done with reference to the top tube anyways, so if your Trek is 56cm with a 56cm top tube and fits well, a 56 Motobecane Track should fit well, too.

Yeah, just check the effective top tube lengths. My Specialized Crux and Trek 1.2 are both 52cm, while my Motobecane Track is a 49cm. All three bikes fit me great.
