Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Mine came in and I've been riding it for the past two days. It is super solid. I have already added the freewheel. The next two things are to add a second brake and change those awful pedals.

Any suggestions on some good but reasonably priced pedals? I'm using this as my "beater" bike to commute to work and to leave at places out in public, so I don't need to spend a ton of money on pedals.

Define reasonably priced and a ton of money. I'd look at either Well-go RO25's or MKS Sylvans. If you look, they can be found for $25-35 or so (*cough Retrogression *cough cough). And they're both pretty well known and have a lot of reviews. I have a pair of each and I like both.

And you're going single, so you probably won't want clips and straps, but both work pretty well with various clips and straps.

I got the MKS GR9s for $25 they have a platform which are really great because they don't dig into your shoes and are way more comfortable than the stock ones.

I bought one a few weeks ago. It came with a flip flop hub, and has been a really solid bike for $299 delivered. I even complained because it came with a black fork (blue ones were supposed to have matching forks), so they refunded me $50. Ive never been happier with an internet purchase.

I just wanted to say that after riding over 60 miles in the last two days, my new favorite upgrade for my bike is the MKS GR-9s and the mks toe clips and leather strap. My feet usually hurt like hell after 30 mile rides but even with very flimsy Fred Perry Plimsolls I have no pain whatsoever. I highly highly recommend this set up for anyone who rides often and or with casual shoes. Another great thing is the pedals leave the shoes undamaged unlike other mks which dig cut into the sole of the shoe. Anyways thats all!

Just wanted to say that mine has been going a year strong. Many, many miles put on it. The thing is rock solid. I have only changed pedals and added a front brake. I take this thing everywhere and leave it in the most sketchy places and it looks almost new (I probably just jinxed myself and it will get stolen tonight). So happy with my purchase.
