I used the great afternoon to start on a bike for the wife. I decided to take pictures of the (bike) rescue as it goes. It's one of my CL "lot" bikes, one of 6 for $100.

I've got some new "almost" slicks (with new tubes and strips), Ergon grips, new pedals, a decent saddle, Kool Stops and a rear rack that I think will fit to put on it after a bunch of cleaning. Plus, the 'ol lady said to get rid of the ft. derailleur and crankset and put a cheapo 40T set on it that I've got laying around. She's gonna keep the 6sp rear for now................
Anyway, as some of you know, she is six months out of intensive care and heart surgery but is still on oxygen----that's the reason for the rear rack and six gears!!!!!!!!!! The rack will tote her small O2 tank (just in case) and the cassette will let her work her strength up.
So far it's $87 worth. I don't think there's much else before she's on the road.

Today I woke up to find one of my two spider bro's, that have been living in my house all summer, chilling out on the pantry door. I was okay with this and went about my normal breakfast routine however about ten minutes later he moved and now I can't find him. He's in my kitchen somewhere I think. He's not poisonous or anything but he is about 2 inches big and it's just a little unnerving.
he's on the back of your head.
duh.
duh.

I'm trying really hard to "turn the corner" on spiders. I'll leave them alone unless they're unreasonably large, then I'll try to capture them and release them outside. But damn - its very difficult. Like you said - strangely the only time I feel comfortable knowing one is in my area is if its in plain site and looks recently-fed.
I see what you did there
Today I am making the Dragon's Milk cupcakes again, this time for a Tiny Fix fundraiser at a local bike shop on Saturday for a bike messenger who got doored and then hit-and-run by a truck a few weeks back. I am really tired and really want to go to bed early, but I still have to make the frosting and frost them. I keep trying to figure out a way that I could procrastinate on that part, but I have plans tomorrow night so there's literally no other time. Gotta do it now.
At least I found some cool shaped sprinkles that I'm excited about - dinosaurs and dolphins and moons and stars and stuff.
