Today I decided its time to start building my first fixie... I have the bike in my garage. Im stripping it to the frame, painting it and replacing every part on it. Let the fun/drinking begin.

Today I did like 20 minutes of intervals at the polo fields with a friend, then an ominous rain cloud rolled over the track so we cut the session short and raced away from it heading home... just barely got sprinkled on. Then on Strava when I got home, saw that Chris Phipps was there an hour before us doing intervals. Glad I wasn't there an hour earlier. His recovery laps are about on par with my pain laps... very humbling.

Last night i forgot to turn on "Do Not Disturb" on my phone so today i got woken up by this:
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=302811 Here's the thing about getting older: I actually forgot i had a birthday coming up until last week. Yay mid-to-late thirties. |
Just found out the stem i ordered is now on backorder, and its the last piece i need to complete my bike :( However this was offset by the fact I just snagged some Shimano shoes for my clipless on ebay for .99 (i was the only bidder) plus $10 shipping. Pretty happy about that one.

Ordered a SE Premium Brew (plan on stripping & clear coating it)
Any reason to think 28c tires wouldn't fit on there? |
They should be fine IIRC.

snow finally receded on the backroad / county route, got to commute today. getting tired of driving.
since the Nature Boy is my primary ride now, last year's Ridley Crossbow singlespeed project will be this spring's 1x9 (44:11-25) project. |
Today I picked up gr9s with soma clips and Christophe straps for 30 buck

Today was a really cool, chill day. My mom took the day off of work, since she never sees me or my brother anymore with us off at school, so we just got to hang out. Went to breakfast, which ended up being free, then the museum for a new Titanic exhibit they had, and then came home to whip up some dinner. One hell of a wednesday.

today was really wet outside

Today I had a nice solid 40 miles.

Buddy of mine picked up a frame jig the other day. Neither he nor I have much of an idea what we're doing, but how can it really be to make a frame?
Today we figured we'd start by trying to fit two tubes together. I'd laid maybe with his TIG in the past, but never with anything round and never with anything this thin (but still ******** thick on a bicycle scale). The left is pretty much the second thing I've ever [arc] welded, and the right is the third. I have a newfound appreciation for the amount of fitment (and sanding, and sanding, and filing, and sanding) needed to get a good weld. http://i.imgur.com/855j5x3l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/1c1KNS8l.jpg I have a long way to go, but this is encouraging. long story short, I'm entering the realm of all kinds of bicycle related mayhem. Tomorrow: fillet brazing and the beginnings of a tall bike. Pumped. |

The winds were not that bad here...
|
Lucky you, almost ripped the doors off the golfcarts we use on campus
|
They cancelled my Motorcycle Safety Course because of the bad weather (looks fine to me!) so now I have to wait two weeks to get my license.
|
It's been windy here in FL, too. I almost got blown towards a curb while negotiating a turn yesterday on the moto and had to push off the curb with my foot. Scared the piss out of me.

Finally got my appetite back today. Haven't been able to keep anything down since Sunday.
Quick way to lose some weight, haha, but being sick sucks. |
