Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Today I:

DFM'd cat 4 on a bumpy ****ing grass course.
dropped chain on the smallest most bull****tiest runup you've ever seen on the second lap, poured on the my heart and soul into my rage gland to catch up just to drop my chain again over a set of barriers. i thought for sure i was going to place in the last twenty or so but i beat 42 people and got beat by 42 people so all in all pretty good race. even better hanging out yelling my lungs out at teammates and friends.

also delivered payment to the guy making the team order and expect a nature boy before next month and hopefully before the next race in the 'fun' series.

Today I rode to work, and it started raining on me in the last couple miles. I was like, ".......Nice."

Embrace the rain.

Bikes: Surly Steamroller

Today I finally paid off and picked up the Steamroller frame I ordered and with the help of my friend we built it up right away. Afterwards we proceeded to go to one of the on campus cafeterias where I ordered a large pizza and some flatbread since I hadn't eating and been working all day. They messed up my order and gave me two small pizzas instead of a large one which is quite a bit more so I came out on top.

Funny all this talk about headsets and headset presses since I too went to the co-op to use their headset press.

Also, a few days ago some guy in an Acura swerved and tried to hit me while I was delivering a sandwich

Yesterday I raced my first ever CX race. It was the hardest thing I've ever done and alas, I did not finish. Thought I was on my last lap and when I found out there was one more, I bailed. I know, I suck, and I'm mad at myself but I was sucking wind so bad. Couldn't breathe, tunnel vision, the whole bit. Next time I will finish, I hereby swear to BFSSFG and myself.

Also, I hit a tree. (Not full on, more of a glancing blow but my forearm is all tore up.)

Today I am *still* hacking up half a lung. What is it about all-out effort like that that makes you feel like you're a smoker all over again?

Last night I almost ****ing pulled the perfect bike date. Kicked it with a sqrl, chilled, went to the occupy LA protest then almost got her up to Angels point over looking LA.

Unfortunately it seems I'm in a lot better shape then I realized and 2 miles of up hills is a "hard but short climb" to only me.

FML.

Today I woke up sick from all the night rides I've been doing. Take a guess what I'll be doing tonight.

WHY DO PEOPLE NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BIKE WHEEL AND TIRE**********??

Noone would ever confuse a car tire and rim, but on bikes, any semblance of intelligence flies out the window.

thanx
